Not to move slightly off-topic, but this thing is SCREAMING for a Symphony of the Night-style Castlevania game. SCREAMING. And so am I. I can only imagine the possibilities.

Yeah that's got me drooling just thinking about it..unfortunately we'll probably just get a half-ass 3d version instead :( I was just thinking about what Aria of Sorrow would be like on PSP and just about busted a nut. Damn I hope there is a fairly decent stream of 2d games on this machine, that screen is begging for it.

we'll be seeing castlevania DS first, but i do hope that IGA decides to do this, and marketing doesn't make him go for a 3D game. since it's a portable, he could probably get away with it.

I hope Falcom decides to port YS 1 and 2 Eternal as well. Shouldn't be that hard since I think they already did port the games to the PS2.
Famcom didn't port the games, the now defuct DigiCube did it. The last console game Falcom coded themselves was Sorcerian on Dreamcast.

Where does the Legend of Heroes: Dragon Slayer game that came out for the Turbo Duo fit into this series? It was a decent little game with auto-combat. I didn't even realize what this Garghav Trilogy was about until this thread.
Dragon Slayer 1-2 were the first Legend of Heroes games. This is the 3rd.

btw, the backgrounds are full on 3D. it's a surprisingly sexy little game for so close to launch, and probably the closest any system has ever gotten to having a full-scale RPG available at launch.
Nope, GBA actually had three RPGs for launch on day one. Capcom's Battle Network Rockman.EXE, Konami's Yu-Gi-OH! Dungeondice Monsters and Konami's Monster Guardians. The latter two were SRPGs actually though.

I bought Orphen at launch....

:(

............................. :(

*sniff* *sniff* I thought I was the only one...

It was the game I bought with the PS2. I was in such a frenzy because I lucked out at a local Toys'R'Us and grabbed a PS2 pre-Xmas. Damn Orphen...

OK, I had to use IE...

The actual loading is certainly not good in that case, but at the same time, it really isn't all that bad either. It's faster than something like, say, Skies of Arcadia (and tons of PSX RPGs). The problem is...instead of using some sort of "enter battle" animation or something, they actually display "Now Loading" on the screen. THAT just looks stupid...

Does this game have horrible load times?
I saw a PSP RPG vid where the load going into and out of battle takes longer than the battle itself.

It loads faster than a whole lot of PSX RPGs (including big ones, like FF9) and stuff like Skies of Arcadia...but the damn thing actually says "Now Loading" instead of using some sort of animated transition like most other games. I assume that, since it seems to use the ED6 engine, they didn't properly account for loading on the PSP and didn't bother with transitions. It just looks sloppy.

Reminds me of early PSX and Saturn games. :\ This whole loading situation kinda sucks. I don't need instant loadtimes or anything, but this kind of stuff just sucks.

So you don't trust Konami's Ys ports?
As nice as they are, they're still technically inferior to the PC original. Then again they were developed by Konami Digital in Chicago.

What the hell? I thought you were banned.

Whoever mentioned Castlevania has me salivating, Dracula X would rock too.

2D games + CD quality sound

3D games

I don't know what more we can ask? Battery, popping disks, who cares, it's good enough, hopefully by the time it gets here those disk problems will be worked out.

i know, right? that's totally the first game i thought of when they announced the psp. but the blasted ds seems to be getting in the way. of destiny. here's hoping they do pspvania next. and that iga doesn't decide to do it in blasted 3d.
