Wow - EGM weren't kidding. It does look very good, indeed. Better than any PSO game in the past; which is quite an accomplishment considering SEGA's 'mastery' of the PS2 hardware.

For a game on a 5+ year old hardware it looks fantastic - easily better than the past PS0s. But what I really want to know more about is the gameplay. Also, is there a significant portion of the game dedicated to the offline mode? Inquiring minds want to know!
 
I'm surprised they upgraded the visuals like so, considering they left their new Sonic abomination back to rot on a DCish looking engine.

With my steadily growing apathy for most things Sega this gen, I'm afraid of actually really looking forward to this only to be disappointed. Please, please be good! Sonic Team went from what I saw as one the top developers of the generation, starting with their releases on the DC of Chu-Chu Rocket and PSO, to a new synonym for flaccid...as in a limp dick hanging in front of a very hot nearly-naked chick...afraid to go errect only to suffer a shocking revelation of hermaphroditic reality to come. I'm tired of getting it up the ass from them.

Mmmm, looks nice. Hope they haven't bumped the resolution for the shots, seems very sharp.

Maybe they are PC shots.
 
They look very nice, in fact I haven't seen such high resolution textures on my PS2 EVER, so I'm thinking they are from the PC version.
 
I think people mistaking it for the PC rev speaks volumes about the graphics. Like EGM said (referring to the console rev), 'it one of the best looking games, ever.' I can't wait to get my hands on the latest issue of EGM. Hopefully it'll happen before my mates at the OA post the scans, anyway. :lol

They are 600x460. Absolutely not 640x448...
If you believe these are PS2 shots, I really can' do anything for you. At best these are high res renders using the PS2 models and textures, but I doubt even that.
Considering the game is developed on both platforms, there is no reasons why they would not use shots from the PC version. But whatever.

Since when is 600x460 PS2 resolution ? If it was at least 448 in height it would be very acceptable, but this is MORE than the PS2 resolution's height. So, shut up, or explain to us why we should we believe these are true PS2 shots. I'm waiting.
Of so 640x480, which is also ~600x400 is also the PS2 resolution. Glad to know that all the shots I've seen from Gamecube and Xbox games were actually PS2 shots.

I never pretended to be unbiased. And yes I'm very interested in this game. I'd be very happy if the PS2 looked exactly like this (considering how good Tekken 5 looks I'd go as far as to think this is possible, but this is Sonic Team here, not exactly a proven PS2 dev), but I'd like to know how anyone can argue that an image with a 460 height can be anything but a PS2 render, or a PC image resized strangely.

I don't want anyone to eat crow, though. EGM should arrive soon enough.
 
The thing is, it looks really good...something ST is always good about, regardless of hardware. The big question is whether it's gonna be a good game or not.
 
I often question BlimBlim's validity, but I'm with him on this. Seems like the PC could scale to that resolution a lot easier than the PS2. And for shots of that LOW of resolution, there's absolutely zero jaggies. I'd be skeptical of those screenshots if people were claiming they were for any current gen console.

Now if those are actual in-game renders of the PS2, it's a hell of a job of aliasing.

As long as its it an ARPG version of PS (which it seems to be) I see no reason to think it won't be.
