Psychonauts for Xbox: rare??

WTF? Is it really being sold that high? I'm totally gonna sell my free copy that I got from Advent Rising's failed contest

Beats me, but in my experience, people do pay the inflated sums on Amazon - to a point. The only game I've ever successfully sold for more than $100 was Valkyrie Profile.

Yeah, I'm seeing it in other places too. But Amazon is usually ahead of the curve. If it hits high prices on Amazon, it will hit high prices everywhere given enough time.

I play games all the time... I don't finish many of them, but I play them.

I care about this more because I like the game and have an interest in seeing it get the recognition it deserves.

That's the PS2 version only. But yeah, I saw tons of copies of the xbox version at various TRUs today also.

There was a copy for $105. It's no longer there.. which leads me to believe that it must have actually sold.

Or expired. Amazon has a... I think it's a one month limit on items for sale in Marketplace. You can just relist it again for the same exact price, but your listings do expire if they don't sell.

Two months, it can be renewed forever, and if you have a paid account with them your items never expire..
 
Every time you make one of these threads, I have to come in and tell you what I will tell you now:

It's not rare. Only maybe 5 games this gen are truly rare.

FFVII isn't rare either, but that isn't keeping new non-GH copies from being hilariously out of reach. What would be a better word, then? Scarce? Elusive? I can't think of anything that captures it quite as 'rare' does, even if it isn't totally accurate.

Oh, there are plenty of games like that.. Egg Mania, Spikeout, Fifa 2005 GCN, Puyo Pop Fever GCN, Virtua Quest, etc. Those are the sort of games that, if you can find them cheap, you ought to snap them up just on the off chance that the swarms on Ebay suddenly figure out how rare it is. Who would ever have thought World of Outlaws: Sprint Cars would become so expensive? It's an OK game, but really not my first choice as a collector.

The difference is that FFVII has a rabid following, so it's expected that some dipshit would pay out the ass for a sealed copy or a non-GH copy.

But when I think "rare", I think "of value" along with "people are looking for it." Some fluke sale for $100 doesn't make something rare by default... I once saw Megaman 8 go for $100+ on ebay, so is it rare also? Because it's really not... being able to gouge some douchebag does not make for a rare title.

For scarce, I'd say stuff like Puyo Pop GC or Spikeout on Xbox would count, but not much else... so basically, everything that is scarce isn't also desirable and commanding of some high resale.

And neither description fits Psychonauts. There's a lot of copies out there at retail still, and I don't think anyone other than Tre is furiously fapping over the game.

It's a low printing, and it's a AAA+ game that the press are nuts about (and for good reason). If it's all over the place, then someone will find a way to plug the gap on Amazon... but GQD sold out (at full price) and many other stores have, too.

I used to be just like you sonarrat: avid game collector, always keeping tabs on the value of games, buying and selling repeatedly. It totally killed my passion in gaming, and I'm so glad I got out of that phase. Hope you can make it out too sonarrat :)

:/ I know you're right, but I don't know how to crack it. It's kind of addictive. I probably just need something else to fill up my free time.

Nope. But I had a copy and found it almost impossible to sell at the prices displayed there..

I'm trying to actually play my way through SMT: Nocturne. So far, I've been successful. It took me less than 2 hours to start over on Hard, get back to the point where I got stuck and get past it...
 
If you're going to play Psychonauts (and most people aren't, tragically), you really should hunt down the Xbox version.

Definitely. I haven't played the retail version of the PS2 game, but the demo was really disappointing compared with Psychonauts on the Xbox.

PC version + any console pad.

It was released at 30 bucks.

That's the version I played through with my logitech pad. Good times.
