Pursuit Force (PSP) "inspired by R-Type"

What better words could a GTA and R-Type junkie like myself hear? Well, I'd be open to "Rockstar Makes New R-Type Game", but that's silly ;)

Pursuit Force could be seen as a blend of Burnout and GTA, but in terms of structuring of levels and the arcade nature of the title we have given a nod to games such as Chase HQ and R-Type. Obviously Chase HQ lends well to the cop theme but more importantly the chase and pursue aspect of the game. R-Type has heavily influenced the core wave structure of how our missions wor; in R-Type the player fights waves of enemies from left to right side scrolling, and we use a very similar method but obviously in 3D. We owe more to R-Type's boss design however, specifically the design of the boss' positions and cyclic attack patterns within their levels.

Easier said than done, I'm highly sceptical of adopting that gameplay method for this particular game.

The game does combine a number of different genres, but the product at its core is very much a traditional arcade game and we have been careful to adhere to certain benchmarks and rules laid down by the predecessors of this 'Design School', the most important rule being that the player should be able to pick up and play the game with ease.
OK, I'm interested now. I really want to see what they come up with.

Continues to be my most wanted about GTA:LCS because I've at least seen Pursuit Force running in various clips, I've seen nothing but screenshots.

Any vids to back up these outrageous claims?

Here's another game "inspired" by R-Type:

I guess he means that R-Type is more of a continue waving on enemies with some pauses rather than 100% full action...

But Chase HQ was that way too...

Yeah, you all are going way out of context on this. They just mean that the enemy attacks are structured in waves -- intentional level layout instead of modern gaming's plop-in-and-trust-AI. And the bosses, that just means they have multiple difficulty sections, like breaking away the trailer to have a gun mount in the truck, for example.

All this is saying is that they're old-school gamers over at BigBig, and that they don't think of their game as some kind of blatant ChaseHQ ripoff.
