The year is almost over.

What movies did you see in the cinema and were disappointing?

The worst I've seen is this garbage.

Mobile suit gundam seed freedom

Una cochinada de película.

-Bored.

-A hateful, idiotic, pedantic and stubborn girl protagonist.

- Gundam battle dull and unexciting.

- Some idiotic and unrealistic characters.

- The human fight choreography is laughable and not very animated.

- 70% of the movie is blah, blah, blah, a Gundam scene and more blah, blah, blah. 30% of the action is short and there is not even a thrill of how predictable it is.

I even wanted to leave the cinema.

Cinema I didn’t go to anything too terrible. I did see avatar 2 in the theater that was awful.

On streaming I watched some stinkers. Venom 3, madam Web, borderlands, probably some others.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire was probably the worst one I saw, but Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire was a close second.

I had high hopes for both of them since I liked Afterlife and the first Godzilla vs Kong, but these were pretty bad.

Really did not enjoy Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice. I also dislike Deadpool vs. Wolverine the more I think about it. They both represent everything I hate about modern movies. Mainly that member berries and nyuk nyuk nods to shit I have seen before is enough to cover up a weak movie. Unfortunately this seal clapping bullshit doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. Ghostbusters was in this bucket as well. Shit year for mainstream movies in general.

Smile 2. Holy shit what a terrible sequel. I honestly can’t put my feelings into words. Hated everything about it.

Deadpool & Wolverine is up there too. It was fun at first but the novelty wore thin about halfway through. The juvenile jokes got old fast. Cameos were fun though.

Long Legs was my favorite film of the year.

Alien was just ok. Pretty forgettable unfortunately.

According to the site where I log this, I watched 96 movies that were made in 2024 this year.

Some that stand out in how much I disliked them:

Super cringey nonsense. Very badly written.

Didn't really work wih all those plotholes. Could have been good if it was a whole lot more realistic.

A promo reel for the director's daughter.

Irredeemable trash.

Also not good: Bad Boys 4 (dumb unfunny shit with awful actors), The Garfield Movie that had nothing to do with actual Garfield and it looked horrible, Atlas which was one of the dumbest sci-fi movies I have ever seen, The Fall Guy was two bad movies for the price of one,

Sure there's more but these popped out when looking at the overview.

I can’t remember. I’ll probably See something on this page and go “Oh yeah I watched that” It was forgettable.

I didn’t mind gladiator 2 while not a patch on the original. It was still pretty solid. Save for the editing.
Maybe Alien Romulus as it was kinda ok but not nothing to write home about I think it would be in the forgettable category as the characters are rather bland.

For the genre, Smile 2 is actually pretty dang good

100% correct.

There was so much hype for that, and while it was a nice period piece (set design, props, etc) the movie just missed on every other mark for me.

Came in expecting Silence of the Lambs...left wondering why Red Letter Media stanned so hard for it.

My list so far, but I’m sure there will be a few additions before the end of the year. I still can’t believe how bad the Mean Girls musical is. Outside of Renee Rapp, all of the performances are terrible, there’s not a single good song, and it’s just painful to sit through. The positive reviews for it are baffling to me.

I thought it was a huge downgrade from the first film. The main actress was good but I hated all the characters and I couldn’t get invested in the story.

The scene with all the smile people striking a pose was goofy as hell. I couldn’t stop laughing.

Carry On on Netflix started with a fairly intriguing premise, and then descended into a huge pile of stupid. Script writing by generative AI. Could have been good, but utterly mishandled by people who watched Die Hard 2 while drunk, and then got lobotomies.

Didn't really watch a lot of new movies this year.
From what I saw that is coming to mind right now I guess Deadpool & Wolverine. It wasn't terrible but it was average at best, and IMO significantly worse than the first 2. I didn't find it neatly as funny or entertaining, it almost felt like the humor took a backseat so they could focus almost entirely on just shoving as many cameos as possible in there. Maybe 5-6 years ago I'd have felt differently, but at this point I'm really tired of member berries being the only shit most blockbusters movies can come up with.

that part reminded me of a theatre production

Didn't really see anything that I would consider truly shit but after Megalopolis my friend and I just looked at each other and said what the hell was that.
If we include non-theatrical releases it would be Hot Frosty. Just a bland Netflix Christmas movie. Lacey Chabert is cute though.

Checked my IMDb ratings and I gave both Tarot and The Strangers Chapter 1 a 2/10. Also gave Madame Web and Borderlands a 3.

So yeah, those 4 are the worst 2024 movies I've seen (so far).

I agree that scene was goofy but I thought the rest of the movie was pretty good. Not as good as the first, though.

However, the ending was absolutely amazing. I had a huge smile on my face for the entire last 5 minutes. Can't wait to see how they follow up on it in Smile 3.

ahh yeah I started watching that. It was pretty meh. Plus the whole plot etc. I stopped watching.
The Long Kiss Goodnight did this premise so, so much better. And it also had Samuel L Jackson in it. Not to speak about that Sam was the villain in the first Kingsmen movie and Argylle is supposed to be part of that world.
