Question about applying for jobs in other countries

Oichi

I'm like a Hadouken, down-right Fierce!
So right now I'm in Japan, and it's cool and all, but I wanna go back to Canada (preferably Toronto but it doesn't really matter) sometime around Dec '06, but my mom e-mailed me and said that there's a position open at the bank she works at (where I also worked for three years). She thinks I should go for it, and when I checked out the posting it was actually a position that I applied for when I was working there!

Basically I'm going to apply and all that, but I don't know how to get around the fact that I'm in Japan NOW. Is it alright to specify in a cover letter that you're currently residing in another country, but are planning to return soon? I guess I can always BS this to make it look like I'm coming home within the next month or so, but I wanna know if my chances of getting the job will be lower because of my situation.

Well I assume it would be lower chance. but you have to try to find out and also, talk it up that you are returning very soon.

Wait did you say 06? or do you mean 05? If you mean 05 try looking for jobs that don't need the position filled right this very second.. some jobs have a window so you can try those

I meant 06.... that's when I wanna leave Japan, but my mom insisted that I at least try to get this job, since I was pining over it when I was back home, and because it's a relatively good job at the bank I used to work at.
