Question about Nintendo "codes" for Nintendo.com

Musashi Wins!

FLAWLESS VICTOLY!
Just realized that I have craploads of these things laying around. My question is, do you register everything in one fell swoop and get credit towards future promotions, or do you need to dole them out slowly as they offer new rewards? I know very occasionally it's been worth it to have some.

I've been wondering the same thing, I'm just going to play it safe and hold onto them. So far it's been to have 2 or 3 things registered, I think it'll keep incrementing slowly.

Doesn't matter. I currently have 45 (or was it 43?) codes registered. I had 20 or 25 when the Metroid Prime 2 Echoes Bonus Disc promotion went into effect, and I was immediately eligible. And that promotion only required 5 or 10. I forget.

Are you saying that your past credit is useable toward future promotions?

that is correct... even if you use past codes to redeem some special offer they have, you can still use them towards another one down the line.

I call first dibs on ones you have dupes of!

Depending on if I don't have them already of course

haha, if any dupes I'll donate them to the demi factor. no spin. with a mario tennis review forthcoming.

thanks everyone for the info.

damn, I never knew this even existed. I just registered my DS and a ton of games.. how can I tell how many points I have and what kind of stuff can I get with them?

I think I chunked some of my codes though, because they are on the back of filler paper that Nintendo allways shoves in the box.

They e-mail you when your eligible for a new promotion most of the time. Like right now they have the 3 issues of Nintendo Power for free if you got 3 games registered.

bah what kind of special is that. i was getting egm, xbn, opm all free for like 8 months just by filling out some internet form wario64 posted on here. 3 issues of NP? :lol

what good promotions have they run in the past?

nintendo needs better promotions. like register 100 nintendo games and get a free revolution. haha

bitwise, they've only had 3 promotions. the 3 issues of nintendo power, the metroid prime 2 demo disc, and the zelda collector's disc (zelda 1, 2, ocarina of time, majora's mask)

guess which one is the best?

There was the Metroid Prime 2: Echoes demo, the Zelda compilation disc, the Nintendo Power trial (as the latest freebie) and maybe some other stuff. That's what I can remember, and what I got.

But yeah, it's not like you're cashing the codes in. Everything you register stays in your account, so to speak. So it's not like a promotion pops up and you cash in some points to get it. It's all cumulative.

Ok, so I can get the three free issues thing, and that isnt like taking three of my registrations away? Because I dont want to waste them on shit I dont really want, lest they start doing some cool shit like giving away DS demos (or releasing traielrs on the DS).

No. Once you reg a game, it's always on your list and part of your tally. You don't "lose" your "credits" by participating in a promotion.

I got a free hat for registering 1080 Avalanche. I think there are random little promos like that every now and then that they don't really advertise much.

Yes, they have random drawings for things like that also.

I can only speak for Nintendo.nl but they rarely have good stuff in their star catalogue. Mostly downloadable stuff such as wallpapers, screensavers and stuff you have to print out yourself. Hardly worth wasting points on.

They did have the Zelda bonus disc for 4500 points, but I only had 2800 points :/ (I usually import because it's much cheaper than buying locally).

That said, they did have a questionnaire where they asked what people wanted to see included in the star catalogue. Hopefully they'll start adding cooler stuff such as more games, merchandise (mario plush, t-shirts), and soundtracks on cd (and not just mp3s).

Anyone have nintendo.nl codes btw? :P

All this time my friends called it a beanie and I thought it was a beanie snowboard like a Beanie Baby. NOW I realize it's a hat. :(
