Question about the PStwo

I finally got around to pickin up a PStwo and I've only used it for like an hour but the left half of it where the power stuff is feels REALLY HOT. Like much hotter than normal PS2s after 10 hours straight of playing.

Is this normal? I've never had a PS2 system die but my PS1 did die horribly from overheating back in the day some I'm a bit worried about this extreme heat. When playing the PStwo should I only play it in short bursts? Or will it be fine for 10 hour straight sessions at that kind of heat.

Also did they fix the whole "playing cd-based games will wear down the laser quicker" issue that plagued some of the normal PS2s?

Thanks,

Mine gets hot after an hour or so but I've never had a problem with it. Don't worry about it unless it's getting VERY hot! ie to the point where whatever it is touching is getting far too hot

I've used mine for five hours without turning it off and never had a problem with it.

It definitely gets hot. You should check and make sure your model isn't one of the ones affected by the power supply recall. Other than that, I wouldn't worry about it. I've had the system on for 10 hour sessions many times. (multiple DVD's & games and then forgot to turn the damn thing off as it no longer makes ANY SOUND that I can hear at all.)

so you do play games cowboy? :D

I experienced the same thing. Getting so hot that you feel like the plastic is going to melt. But appearently it's normal.
