Question about X360 BC

winter

I just bought HL 2 for xbox since it was the on the official BC list and I'm one of the unfortunate people who doesn't have a PC powerful enough to play the game. Well, the game runs like crap. I can deal with a low framerate but sometimes the physics don't work and the game even crashes.

Are the games on the BC list considered "finished" or is this an ongoing process where they go back and patch games that don't work 100%? I'm pretty annoyed because I assumed this game would work flawlessly. It was released a week before the 360 came out so I figured compatibility w/ 360 was a must to ensure purchases from people moving on to the new gen.

Everything but Halo and Halo 2 suck on 360 is what I've gathered.

Most games have flaws here and there and some are almost unplayable.

we don't know yet if MS is going to focus on getting more games to boot or improve on existing games, or a mixture of both. We also don't know how frequently we'll get updates, whether they'll settle down to once a quarter, twice a year, once a year, or just whenever significant progress occurs.

Er. Maybe if someone with actual experience could post an answer--from the swirly Kojima-san's in your avatar, I don't think your opinion will help tooo much. :lol

From what I've played, most of the games work good, some of the more graphically intensive ones (like Ninja Gaiden) have slowdown. The shooters, like the Tom Clancy games, are supposed to run and look great. I'd say, all in all, about half the BC list games run well. the rest have major issues.

"Must . . . buy . . . Metal . . . Gear . . . @_@"

I lost about 3-4hours of my life thanks to HL2's shitty ass BC. I can take the framerate drops, but the fucking physics messing up mid-level and impeding progress is just too much, you can't even fix it, you have to redo the whole fucking level. Its total bullshit.

Metal Arms and the SC games work perfectly, I haven't tried many other BC games other than those.

BC is a misnomer. Don't buy games for the original Xbox expecting them to run well on the 360.

can you find another word to replace misnomer? you've used it 50 times to describe xbox 360 BC

Why? You don't like descriptive words? Too bad for you I guess.

Oh sorry, the comments not in line with your blind adoration of all things Xbox.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory won't even boot on my system anymore. It did the first couple of times, but now when I place it in there - and the Loading screen boots up with Sammies mug - it just hangs.

BC my ass.

I played all the way through Fable: The Lost Chapters and Ninja Gaiden Black.

Fable's first level features atrocious slow down, but after that it was mostly problem free with a stray frozen game here or there. If you try it, struggle through the first town, then be sure to save frequently.

NGB had slow down here and there, but many levels played smooth as butter. I know some people will say that the game is ruined on 360, that wasn't my experience at all.

I wonder...If you can buy a X360, why not keep the original xbox.
Too bad for the OP HL2 is an excellent port, but it seems to be very buggy with the BC of the X360

I agree, but if you didn't have an Xbox originally, I'm not sure it's worth going to buy one now (especially cause it's still 179 I think)

I traded in my xbox and games when EB was giving extra trade in credit towards 360 preorders.

I put him on my ignore list because his avatar is too annoying and obnoxious.

Sonic Mega Collection works fine in BC. I don't know what all of you people are complaining about.

the games will work fine sooner or later.

it's an evolving process. Not something where you snap your fingers and it works. It takes a lot of time

this really, really, really sucks. i was looking forward to playing half-life 2 on my 360 because i don't have a pc either and i'm disappointed to hear it doesn't run well.

i've played halo 2 on my 360 and it runs very smoothly, but i also played ninja gaiden black and had to stop after a couple of levels because it was so awful. it seriously felt like i was playing underwater or something.

i hope microsoft continues to improve the backward compatibility because i really want to play half-life 2 and psychonauts (which isn't even on their list of compatible games)...

yesterday at a local gamestore some one called in and asked how mcuh he will get for xbox with a controller and the clerk replied 50CDN... total rip off for an xbox I can imagine a 50 CDN on ps2 but I think anyone who trades in their xbox for 50CDN is seriously stupid.

Stubbs the Zombie works fine, just has some occasional slowdown. If every game used the Halo engine, BC might actually work.

What the hell? I own a 360 and am very interested in BC.

I've played Halo, Halo 2 and Fable on it so far. Then posted a thread on it and every single other game besides Halo and Halo 2 I wanted to play everyone said it had major flaws.

Uhh, I don't know if this was somewhat directed at me but I got $80 for mine. But that was back in september.

What, pray tell, would make the Xbox worth MORE than the PS2?
