Question for PC Nerds (me)

I currently have a rtx3090fe paired with a i79700k. Not a terrible combination but I've noticed in certain games I am definitely losing performance cause my cpu is potentially not keeping up with my gpu.

My question is what would be a for sure bet in performance increase if I were to buy a new cpu? I am totally okay with either sticking with Intel or switching to amd. Thanks for any help that is provided!

9700k? 8 core/8 threads?

You are potentially losing performance only in few games out there that really utilize more than 8 threads right now (~98% of games don't)

Don't change it right now, it's not worth it

Honestly pointless to change your cpu like the guy above me stated. U will get practically unnoticable gains moving to even the top CPU at this point. its all rebrands. U wanna wait on atleast 1-2 more cpu generations before you upgrade.

I do feel you tho, i got a 9900k and frankly i wish we had a cpu with 3x the performance at this point in time. But sadly we don't.

I was in a similar situation and I tried to get the best CPU without switching everything, in your case is an i9 9900 k, wich is a great cpu causse it has Hyperthreading. You'll notice a good difference

U could also try to OC it, 9700 specially the 9600 are absolute beasts at ocing, u will straight up get another 10% out of it.
