Question for the Audiophiles

I just got a pair of Grado SR125's (awesome cans), but the 1/4th " jack posed obvious problems. I know grado makes their own converter, which is $15, but I already had one that I got in a pack with a few diff converters and 25foot extension cable for $10.

Is it worth it to buy the Grado one as far as sound? I'm sure the signal is getting degraded in these atleast somewhat, but would it be enough to noticeably alter the sound quality?

Source varies. From a guitar amp, to a home stereo, to a Rio Karma, to a computer.

Assuming a very good source though, would it make a very noticeable difference?
