So I've been asked to spec out a laptop for my own use at work. The only major requirements are that it be a Dell and that it have a serial port. That being said, I'm sure my boss would prefer me to search through Dell's Latitude series, so that's what I'm doing.

Here's two PCs I've made up:
Dell Latitude E5500 - $1955
  • Intel® Core™ 2 Duo P9500 (2.53GHz, 6M L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB)
  • Genuine Windows Vista® Business SP1, With media
  • 15.4 inch Wide Screen WXGA+ TrueLife LCD Pane
  • Mobile Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD
  • 4.0GB, DDR2-800 SDRAM, 2 DIMMS
  • Touchpad and Trackstick dual pointing
  • Internal English Dual Pointing Keyboard
  • 250GB Hard Drive, 5400RPM
  • 8X DVD+/-RW w/Roxio and Cyberlink PowerDVD™
  • 9 Cell Battery
  • 90W Slim A/C Adapter (3-pin)
  • Dell Additional Slim 65W Auto/Air/AC Adapter
  • Intel® WiFi Link 5300 802.11a/g/n Mini Card
  • Dell Wireless® 370 Bluetooth Module

Dell Latitude D630 - $1968
  • Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T9300 (2.50GHz, 6M L2 Cache, 800Mhz) Dual Core
  • Genuine Windows Vista® Ultimate Service Pack 1, With media
  • 14.1 inch Wide Screen WXGA+ LCD Panel
  • 128MB NVIDIA® Quadro NVS 135M™
  • 4.0GB, DDR2-667 SDRAM, 2 DIMMS
  • Standard Touchpad
  • Internal English Keyboard
  • 120GB Hard Drive, 9.5MM, 5400RPM
  • 8X DVD+/-RW w/Roxio and Cyberlink Power DVD™
  • 9 Cell Primary Battery
  • 90W A/C Adapter, Energy Star Compliant
  • Dell Additional Slim 65W Auto/Air/AC Adapter
  • Intel® 4965 802.11a/g/n Dual-Band Mini Card
  • Dell Wireless® 360 Bluetooth Module for Vista

The main differences have been highlighted.

Which would you guys go for?
