Seriously though, make sure to check that the battery is fine. Or at least lasts 5 hours.

did the 4th gen replacements come out yet?
im truely surprised and saddened by the ipod battery issue, though i havent yet completely drianed mine once yet, the battery does drain very quickly. im assuming a running life of about 6 hours. thats not very good. i expected at least around 8 hours.

No, I haven't bought one yet actually. I have a 1G iPod and I don't want to buy an upgrade because 5Gb is useless to me now. However, I have opened up my iPod before by myself. It's extremely easy actually. And the battery just sits right on top. Since that thing even has a kit to help replace it, I'd imagine it to be pretty damn easy.

I thought the new iPods get 12hours of battery life? And no I don't think the 4G battery upgrades are out yet. But my 1G iPod gets some pretty battery life, and I've had it since it was first introduced.
