I'm trying to import a avi file but i can't find out how. Its driving me crazy Apple says that you can import it but i just don't get how. Can anyone help a brother out? Whenever I open the file it saves the quicktime doesn't have the nessary componants to view the file.

AVI is just a container format. It can contain video and audio. That video and audio in compressed using codecs. Just because Quicktime can read AVI does not mean it has the right codec installed to decode the video and audio.

You're probably trying to open an AVI that has video encoded in Divx with Quicktime without having the Divx codec for Quicktime.
