Ridge Racer DS
Asphault: GT
Need for Speed: Underground2

So which is best?

I understand RRDs is basically RR64, but with a 6 player mode...but I haven't even played 64 version. NFS:U2? - looks alright, but what about gameplay? Does it have a multiplayer mode (with single cart?). I think A:GT is meant to plain crappy, though...

What about other top DS games not including Meteos, Kirby (Not out here yet - though I have them)?

I own RRDS, its not the best game ever, but it plays allright. Its slow, and looks like crap, but its not a terrible game, i enjoyed playing through it.

i havent played the other 2 though, so i guess i cant help much :P

edit: I agree with AniHawk ...wait for Mario Kart :P

Ashpault GT is the best your gonna do for now.

RRDS is a tragedy, as it's got awful collision and control is wonky.
NFS is technically imressive, but control is a little off and AI is rubberbandish

Ashpault is unugly and has real cars and is actually not bad.

Edit: Compusa had a two for $30 deal, and I got it as part of that, so it def worth $15 :)

There are no racing games for the DS.

We never had this discussion.

hahaha.

yeah basicaly, while you might enjoy some of the racing games the DS has (or doesnt have...dun dun dun) they are pretty poor quality games in the end, and really arnet worth the money, better off getting the few good games it does have right now (import some too), and maybe a good racing game will come out eventualy (other than Mario Kart i mean).

I dunno if i would hold my breath though, the poor 3d DS puts out, combined with the Dpad, and as far as i can tell, no way to make the touch screen very usefull in a racing game...i doubt there will be many really good racers at all on DS, im sure a few more sub par ones though :P

hmmm...thanks for the replies guys. Yeah, Mario Kart is a no brainer, but I wanted to get a ds game as a gift, so MK not an option. BTW, I'm in NZ, so Advance Wars is out like, in two months. Nintendogs next month.

Personally, I have (in order of favourite):

Mario 64 - probably my overall fave, but then, I was a huge fan of M64.
Meteos - fantastic game, but still seems a bit random to me (and I love puzzlers)
Bomberman - great multi, and I loved teh old school one player mode - man if it were only co-op. I also believed they missed the ball - I was playing through it, and it made me think that this kind of single player could've fully been exploited - puzzles while trying to kill the enemies and stuff (like chain reactions, different kinds of bricks etc), or more tricksy enemies - you know like the kinds of one screen clearing games fromt eh 16-bit days, but bomberman style. Man, I'm no game designer, but there could;ve been so many cool things in the one palyer. Still liked it, though - I do understand BM is all about multi, which they fully nailed.
Wario ware touched - I never understood the love for Wario ware Advanced, but I loved touched - all the problems people ahd with it, (same mechanics, repetitive) was the same beefs I ahd with the FIRST game, but not with touched - it seemed there was atleast some skill involved in some of the game,s unlike the first.
Kirby: Again, I don't see the hype. Yes, it's an excellent game, great graphics, and very novel, but it only really got interesting near the end. To be frank, though, I haven't tried like time trials or anything like taht, which is where it seems all teh fun is (not fun for me though). I enjoyed the sub games more.
poalrium good, but ultimately no substance, and once the puzzle mode is done, it's all over (unlike Chu chu rocket Advanced - there's no way I'm ever going to see the end of the 2000 + puzzles - they need a DS version!)

I just wondered what would be a great game to show off some of the DS capabilities for a first timer, that wasn't Mario. Another Code? Pac Pix?

Yesterday I play Asphalt: GT on N-GAGE of a friend my.

I'm really impressed by the graphics. It's look like a above average Ps1 game, with good speed and nitro (I love racers with nitro).

If the DS version looks so good as N-GAGE version, this can be a good game to purchase for a low price.

It looks better. Double the framerate, more geometry and added lighting effects. Plus a map. :)

WON! If GT on DS is so Better, I'm will take it on my first opportunit. Thanks jarrod!

Asphault is actually pretty fun. It doesn't really know what it wants to be though. Racing, chasing, jumping, etc. Lots of random shit in that game.

If you need a 3D polygonal racer on the DS, Asphalt really is a lot of fun. It's not worth $30, but you should be able to pick it up for $20 or less if you look.

But Racing Gears Advance is indeed the best racing game playable on the DS.
