Apparently not 100% finished yet, but holy shit finally

Radiohead spent the month of September holed up in the studio working on their ninth studio album. It appears the sessions were a success, as guitarist Jonny Greenwood has told a Russian radio station that the band has all but finished the record.

“We have finished recording of the new album but we keep reevaluating the work we’ve done,” Greenwood told Russia’s Silver Radio (via Reddit). “We hope we’ll get it right soon, and after that we’ll start planning the next year’s tour.”

Hot damn, the last time I saw them live was In Rainbows and it was glorious. Hopefully their new tour brings them somewhere close to me once more...

Please be less king of limbs and more in rainbows and amnesiac

So much hate for such a good album. :(

If you haven't listened to the Live From The Basement version of the album, give it a shot. I already liked the studio version beforehand, but the live version increased my appreciation of it. And some say they didn't like the TKOL at all prior to hearing live versions of it.

Anyways, hopefully they drop the new one soon.

As for me, I like TKOL, but a more IR-like album would be glorious. That won't happen tho, since they are always experimenting new things and would never "go back"

Hell yeah, Daily Mail is one of my favorite Radiohead songs

Excellent, I also want Jonny to do more soundtracks tho. Really want to see that doc on him collaborating with Indian musicians.

Junun's awesome. I got to see the world premiere of it, and believe me you should watch it loud. The music in it is fantastic, and the album sounds like it'll be my AOTY. It really is more like a home movie than a documentary. There's no really flashy shots that were pre-planned, probably only one at the beginning, but the rest is really organic and great.

OT, good news! Hopefully, I can catch Radiohead on tour and hear the live versions that are supposed to be better than the studio versions. I'd like the album to be more Myxomatosis than anything on TKoL (but that remix album...).

There seems to be considerable misunderstanding in this thread.

You don't tell Radiohead what you want from them.

That would make Radiohead boring.

I don't care what it sounds like I need it. I will agree that in rainbows was the best of their recent catalog but I liked king of limbs just fine.

It'll never be finished. The "radiohead are recording a new album" news cycle will continue forever.

When it does get finished it'll probably be announced by the band no more than a week before release. That seems to be the usual for Radiohead.

Heck, it's now pretty common for musicians to announce records the same day as the digital release.

By now I should have known better than to listen to second-hand reports on a record being finished.

Err. Greenwood clarified. From his twitter:

nice mistranslation going on....what I actually said: lots has been recorded, and we're about to go through it all....
...to see if it's any good. And we HOPE to tour next year: no plans confirmed yet. Sorry for the over enthusiastic translator....:/

Thom if you're reading this, ignore this man. Muse tries to sound like Radiohead; they're lower in the food chain. To reverse this would upset natural law and would be an abomination.

Muse seems like the type of band that simply cashes in on all the people who say they wish Radiohead would just make The Bends over and over again.

While TKoL may not have been a Radiohead quality album, it still had a few great tunes on it. Definitely not something I listen to often, though...

High hopes for #9. They are the greatest, after all.

I know I've been tolling Radiohead threads lately, but for serial I'd freaking love to hear them do a jam band album. Each song is like 15 minutes long with multiple movements all tied together at the end. They're all fantastic musicians and I'd like to hear them display that musicianship.
