Random thoughts.

Water is as dangerous to man as space but we just don't appreciate the danger.

Whenever someone disappears around a body of water that's always where they are.

Even a little water is similar to space in that it effectively is unsurvivable beyond a few seconds for an unprepared human. If you don't know water is coming you can't hold your breath. Drowning is one of the most underappreciated risks of our planet.

Cramps, underwater hazards, currents, wrecks into water, trips into water, exhaustion, flooding, you can drown in a tablespoon of water. All large bodies of water are abysses. We are playing in an abyss.
I love water and the ocean. It's as close as I'll ever get to human-powered flight. And, like with the astronomical scale of space, my puny brain doesn't comprehend the vastness of the ocean to get too scared of it.

Having said that, I ain't doing a deep sea dive. But give me up to, say, 30ft depths with no currents or undertows and I'm a pig in mud.
