RE5 planned to debut simultaneously (X360, PS3)

Hey! It could be worse!!!!SEE!?.

I actually don't have a huge problem with that, unless it is like in Disaster Report, where you had to drink water every five minutes or you would die. I don't see the point - I think adding things like that are more gimmick than anything else - but if it doesn't interfere in the game too much, I wouldn't bitch nearly as much as I would about item boxes returning.

There will be 4 classic characters from the series, traveling in groups of 2 using RE0 zapping system.

-There will be new enemies: No ganados or zombies ("A new threat never seen before in a re game")

-The Item boxes will make a comeback, along with the classic door opening cinemas just for some doors (perhaps the ones dividing each area).

-There will be a new "Heat" meter near your character's life bar, that if not lowered with water, will make the character suffer hallucinations ala eternal darkness.

-The plot will be completely related to RE Code veronica, with new twists and terrors..
what the hell? didn't they just put the series back on the map by eleminating all that?(except that hallucination shit which sounds very retarded) fuck you Capcom.

4 classic characters - Awesome. Chris + Claire, Jill + ???
Zapping system - Undecided (someone explain to me how it worked, I never played RE0).
If the game changes depending on your character set like RE2, then consider me fapping.

FU Capcom. We need the return of zombies. Imagine the level of location damange and zombie gore you could have on the 360 & PS3. They don't have to be the main enemies, but they have to be in there.

Item boxes - Undecided. If their use was changed up a bit, it might be interesting. I'd be nice to be able to store weapons that you didn't want to carry around all the time so you could arm yourself for the situation.
Door cimemas - Maybe for dramatic effect in some cutscenes, but frequent use, no thanks.

Boo (and fake sounding).

-The plot will be completely related to RE Code veronica, with new twists and terrors..

Wha? Code: Veronica doesn't even seem related to RE's storyline anymore thanks to RE4 stepping on it's toes.

Overall, I agree with everyone who thinks this is fake. Sounds like baseless speculation to me.

Why the hell are so many people complaining?

It sounds more like an RE4 sequel with stuff from the older games tossed in. You're going to get your RE4 gameplay.

Two characters ala RE0 is interesting. It would be like controller Ada and Leon at once. Not so bad, and it would make it less repetative and more interesting, puzzle wise.

Item box in RE5 would be odd, but not unwelcome. If Capcom keeps mostly the same item distribution as RE4, ala we may get extra items here or there, then it's a good thing to have. Then again, if we have two characters, there's no need to fumble items anyway.

New enemies, sounds good.

The heat meter sounds like the virus meter from the Outbreak games, but in this one, I doubt you'll die.

Having not cared for the RE plot in a long time, a CODE: Veronica sequel is fine by me.

I hope capcom doesn't pull a resident evil 2/4 and restart the game after finishing a hefty chunk of work. I don't like waiting.

They haven't even started developing the actual game yet, so you've got a while before they get to 50% and start over.

re :GTA Exclusivity...

Two seperate agreements on the series. The first I haven't been able to track down but according to wikipedia:

The Xbox version was initially supposed to be released in spring 2002 but it was shelved when Sony signed an agreement with Take-Two Interactive (Rockstar Games' parent company), making the GTA series a PlayStation 2 exclusive until November 2004. However, the agreement was amended in 2003 and the Grand Theft Auto: Double Pack containing both GTA III and Vice City was released for PS2 and Xbox in December 2003.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Theft_Auto_III

Obviously, San Andreas fell outside of the agreement... to which, there was a NEW agreement created (more moneyhats).

NEW YORK--March 1, 2004--Rockstar Games, the world-renowned publishing division of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., is pleased to announce Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the next iteration in the globally successful Grand Theft Auto franchise. Developed by world-class designers Rockstar North, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will be available exclusively for the PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system and is expected to be in stores in North America on October 19, 2004 and in Europe on October 22, 2004.

"In the past couple of years, we have put an enormous amount of pressure on ourselves to ensure we do everything possible to exceed people's expectations with Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas," stated Sam Houser, President of Rockstar Games. "Even though we still have eight months to go, we are starting to become very proud of what we have achieved and we can't wait to get the game into players' hands."

Leslie Benzies, President of Rockstar North, stated, "We are extremely humbled by the success of the Grand Theft Auto series and it has made us push ourselves further than ever to create a title in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas that will hopefully redefine the Grand Theft Auto series and revolutionize open-ended gameplay and video game production values."

So in the end, unless there's more money being passed in R*'s direction (and if I were Sony, I'd pay them all I could to keep them away from MS), they're under no obligation either way, on this gen, next gen or any gen to be exclusive following San Andreas.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled RE5 debates...

No Revolution, no sale!

...just kidding. I'll probably get this for the 360. I really hope Capcom doesn't compromise the game for the sake of it being multi-platform, though. Which do you think is the base platform (like how the THPS games were done on PS2, then ported)?

God I hope so, that stuff sounds almost lame.

ZOMBIES MUST RETURN!
Well, the sprinting horde in the teaser seemed zombie-eqsue to me. Did they explain how the zombies in RE3: Nemesis could run? I mean they were all slow and lumbering in the first two games... It seemed out of place.

.. Wow.

I can't believe I'm actually seeing crap like this being said:

Sounds like I'm gonna pass on this one.

Based on RUMORS posted on an IGN MESSAGE BOARD.

We haven't seen one picture and almost no official information from the game yet you're going to "pass on this one"? Be more dramatic.

And why are people bitching about these rumors?

There will be 4 classic characters from the series, traveling in groups of 2 using RE0 zapping system.

4 classic characters would be awesome. Traveling in groups of 2? I don't like the idea, based on Zero, but I'm sure it would play a lot differently if true.

-There will be new enemies: No ganados or zombies ("A new threat never seen before in a re game")

Neither good nor bad. We would have to wait and see.

-The Item boxes will make a comeback, along with the classic door opening cinemas just for some doors (perhaps the ones dividing each area).

Why in the hell would people complain about this?

First of all, the item boxes? That doesn't mean you wouldn't be able to hold as much as you could in RE4. It simply could means that if you have no room, instead of dropping something and having it disappear or just having to leave it there (I forgot what it does in RE4, and I think it just stays there in RE0), you can put it in an item box and grab it at other item boxes.

As for the doors, it even says just for SOME doors, like the ones dividing each area. I don't see the problem with that, it could make that tense. Especially if it was just your first time through the door.

-There will be a new "Heat" meter near your character's life bar, that if not lowered with water, will make the character suffer hallucinations ala eternal darkness.

And people even complained about this? How would that not be incredibly cool? Especially with the graphic capabilities of PS3 and 360. That could look so awesome and unique. And it would make sense if you're in the desert a lot.

-The plot will be completely related to RE Code veronica, with new twists and terrors..

Whatever, to each their own as far as this goes. Again, it's something no one can really bitch about unless we find out the actual story. (Personally, I loved RE:CV as much as RE4 -- Super Wesker FTW~)

So chill people. :P They won't fuck this up. Best developer around.
