Really old Super Mario Bros. footage!

It's old, I've seen it before (or at least I've seen one in the same level), totally worth downloading and watching again though, this game will own.

That's my site! I don't know you? :D

Anyways, great movie, can't wait for this game.

I know, i'm also registered at your forum but I don't post that often :)
Loving the site design hehe.

Xrenity: what the f*ck, site loads in 0.x seconds here.

Quite old footage from the early build. Looks strange wiith powerups every two screens, so I guess this was co-op optimised.

Woooh, this Mario seriously could end up being better then Mario 3! XD Won't beat Mario 1 in it's simplicity, but, still awesome! XD

I am the only person that have lost faith in the SuperMario saga?

It seems to me an original SuperMario Bros with 3D models and with controls from SuperMario64, I want something like an expanded SuperMario Word/Bros 3 and not this.

I want a pure 2D Mario with pure playability of a 2D Mario.

As do I....but did you even watch that video? The look, sound, physics are all spot on. Graphics are smooth nothing looks blocky, if they were going to do a 3D/2D Mario I honestly can say they couldn't have done a better job.

I don't really see how this game could control like Mario64....Not sure where you got that idea.

3D != 2D

Does it worry anyone else that in that short video alone, the guy found like 6 mushrooms/fire flowers...

Seems way too easy, unless that was like the first world and first level...

Well, there's at least wall jump and I think butt stomp as well... not sure what other moves from SM64.

I noticed that. It does look the style of a first level or so. Regardless the guy playing sucked and lost everything once he obtained it. Also I hope they have some levels later on with the black background and green hue to everything.

True, but I don't see how that means it controls like Mario64.

I am all for adding new moves to the game, especially from one of the greatest games of all time, Mario 64.

Yes.

This plays like a mix between SMB and SMB3.

Well, from that video at least, it didn't seem too special. Still looks a bit sparse, and gameplay-wise, looks like a standard SMB game with smoother graphics. Which is nice of course, but I'm expecting more.

But it's early so hopefully it'll improve significantly in time.

during the greman gamefair Games Convention 2005 i had the chance to play the mario brothers demo.
the game looks like it could really be the next SMW. it plays smoth and has alot of those tiny things that made SMW so special.
the only thing that i didnt like were the 3d models of the caracters. they just dont fit to the nice 2d backgrounds. they look out of space.
IMO it would have been much better if they made the caracters also 2d, than the game would look perfect.

anyway Mario Brothers FTW

It's a demo to show the game in a short period of time. They don't want people to die halfway through. And based on the video, it seems like this guy needed all the powerups he could get.

I can't be the only one that thinks that looks like total trash. It looks like if you took the 3D Mario from Mario Sunshine and dumped him in the desert levels in SMB2. I hope there's some cool stuff we're not seeing, because so far that game looks like it's running completely off the "Hey look, 3D Mario in a 2D world!" gimmick. Just because the gameplay is 2D doesn't mean the world can't have depth, just look at Klonoa. Whatever, I'm sure it'll sell 8 billion copies anyways.

This is a technical demo of the new super mario bros game. 3D mario looks good, and it adds greater possibility for new enemy gameplay, not to mention bosses. As for the sparse look, it's because this is an old clip not representative of anything. But we want a clean look for the final version as well..

This video hit me for some reason. It´s the first one I´ve seen from this game and I´ve said "I need it". People complaining about this being this or that should revise their thoughts before spreading them like a disease. Mario games have never been about watching, but about playing. They are not impressive, or spectacular, or thrilling. They are all about being there and controlling the thing. Now, complaining about Mario being able to walljump is dumb. Some old Nintendo fans that refuse to get anything but a SNES game make me feel sick.

I hope this game will be big, in the vein of Mario Bros 3 or Super Mario World. It´s the only thing that bothers me.

When did this first show up? Older shots on IGN show it on the prototype DS design.. i mean by the time this comes out it'll probably have had 2 years behind it if not more.

The ONLY thing i can see them getting wrong is the difficulty. But i'm hopeful they will make it easily approachable and challenging in more ways than one like the classics of old.

It looks like it plays good to me.. they're really turning Mario into an acrobat! Seems somewhat reminiscent of DK:JB style of play, very smooth combos etc. I do agree it doesn't quite *look* like Super Mario Bros, as SMB1/3/4 do.. so i hope they can get that fixed before the release.

Nintendo is doing the safe thing. I doubt they have management and talent left willing to create a new ambitious 2D Mario platformer.

go u loveable ninty give me a positive surprise

True. Maybe I shouldn't worry about it. It's just that my worries about some games have come true (in terms of difficulty) and I wouldn't want that happen to New SMB...

Btw, is this being made by EAD Japan, or another American studio like say, NST? I've got nothing against NST, but if it is them, it's probably more likely to be a "by-the-numbers" Mario game.

Yeah, the art style is horrible to say the least. Sadly, I don't think it's going to change, since each and ever Mario game that came out after the N64 has had the same crappy art direction.

Have you seen the videos?

Yeah, pretty much everyone I have gotten my hands on.

You can't really say a 2D game controls like a 3D game. Sure there may be some moves carried over, but they inherently can't control the same.

EAD - and nearly the same persons that made Super Mario World :)

I have always loved Mario games, but something about the game just doesn't sit right with me. Can't put my finger on it.

Has there been any media showing the second screen (the one where powerups are stored or whatever)?
