This is a technical demo of the new super mario bros game. 3D mario looks good, and it adds greater possibility for new enemy gameplay, not to mention bosses. As for the sparse look, it's because this is an old clip not representative of anything. But we want a clean look for the final version as well..

I read somewhere that all the games sprites are going to be 3D models in the final game... is this bs? I couldn't really tell from the quality of that video but it seemed like it was a sprite, was it not?

As you can see in screenshots, yes it will be 3D models. It has been this way since the game was first showed at E3 2004.

Actually, it is representative of the final product since it looks similar to what we've seen over the past two years. Not much will change. So it IS NOT a technical demo, but just short of being finished.

But this is the same demo that was shown at E3 2005, it's pretty old and since we haven't seen anything new since then how can we know wether it's representative or not?

Yeah, the art style is horrible to say the least. Sadly, I don't think it's going to change, since each and ever Mario game that came out after the N64 has had the same crappy art direction.

Ignore him, he just wants attention. I'm getting more and more hyped for this, although I don't wanna go overboard as this game has a hell of a heritage to live up to, but I like the fact that Nintendo are taking their time, thats usually a great sign.

Yesterday I had a dream I got a copy of NSMB at a store that accidentally put their copies out before launch. The cartridge was holographic with a rainbow tint. I then plugged it in and enjoyed the most orgasmic experience known to man since sex, in other words, it was like nothing I've ever experienced before. Then I woke up, in my dream, and the first thing that popped into my head was "I don't really have New SMB, do I?" I ran over to my DS, looked into my cartridge slot, and there was crying aplenty. Then Fat Tony broke in through the first floor window and started slapping me around because I saw him shoot up the boy at the drive-thru car wash.

Then I really woke up.

Like someone said, it has a shitty art style. Other than that it looks like a lot of fun...but from a purely visual standpoint it looks like a fan's take on what a 2.3D mario would look like.
