I decided to enter into the 21st century and get a cellular phone. I'm just looking for recommendations of what service is the best. Any advantages/disadvantages and all that.

Thanks for any help.

Oh, I'll probably get a Razor or a similar phone like that.

I've been very happy with T mobile. For 42 dollars a month I get unlimited data downloads and like 600 anytime minutes. That's way more than I ever use.

Amazon has a good deal on a razr w/ T Mobile service, you may want to check that out.

T-mobile gots good deals but from what I heard the service isnt good. I prefer nextel because of their phones and cb. i860 is awsome but the plans are expensive I think.

verizon if you want your phone to work all the time

Man, I've been with Verizon for close to ten years, and even I don't buy that.

The best thing anyone can do is just pick a provider and use the trial period to determine if service - where you are and where you might need it - is up to snuff. Cingular has a 30-day period, Verizon has a (roughly) 14 or 15-day period. I'd probably stick with those two, as they have the largest coverage footprints.

What's the best prepaid service without any hidden shit? Right now i'm leaning towards t-mobile since i can buy 1000 minutes that last a year for 10 cents a minute.

I have a seperate prepaid phone and so far t-mobile is working good. 100 bucks for the 1000 minutes is pretty good deal to.

ROFL thats the biggest load of BS I've heard in SO long.

really??

Here in Connecticut, and when I'm in and out of the city, I get amazing coverage. I actually use my cellphone as my "everything" phone as well.

All of my friends with other companies constantly bitch about the problems they have...

You realize how utterly pointless anecdotal evidence is, right?

All of my friends swear by Verizon but they're always having trouble with their phone. I think its just a hive mentality but is there any kind of a special deal where you talk to other Verizon customers? If so, I might select them for this very reason.

Are the services better in certain regions? I'm talking about coasts, the midwest. I live in Iowa. I never go outside of the cities there so I imagine there are plenty of towers to go around but lets say Cingular's strengths are on the West Coast and Nextel's is on the East. Is there anything like that or is it just consistent all around?

Might want to check with them to confirm, but I think there's quite a few packages where you get unlimited in-network calling.
