Going to have some down time coming up. Anyone read anything really good lately? Up to date on the Reacher, Nowhere Man and Pendergast books.

Appreciate any suggestions!

Rest

All these years later I still chuckle at what a fucking moron that guy is.
Dracula's pretty good.

I also always recommend
The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect

You can read it for free online, or buy it from for your ereader, or order a print on demand copy from a local book store. Awesome little novella, it's best to go in blind, but if you would like an introduction:
It's about what would happen if human's reached the technological singularity, but a sentient supercomputer was in control of it.
It also contains graphic depictions of brutal violence, rape, and torture, so don't read it to your kids or anything.

Doesn’t always have to be a book

Looks like you're into action packed books. Allow me to recommend an action packed series. Think of it as a medieval military adventure trilogy, with a sprinkle of Indiana Jones.

Set during the epic 14th century Hundred years war between England and France, the story follows Thomas of Hookton, who leaves his village in England after the murder of his father. Thomas eventually joins the English army as an archer and seeks revenge on his father's killer. However, After the King of England (Edward iii) learns of Thomas' family's links to the Grail, he sends Thomas on a grand quest through England and France to locate it.

Lots of people like Bernard Cornwell for the Sharpe or Last Kingdom series, but this series has always been unfairly overlooked. Not only is it a really fun adventure with likeable heroes like you'd expect from Cornwell, but It has without a doubt, some of the most epic and brutal battle scenes ever put to page.

I didn't recommend book four because it's not as good. The story is a trilogy, but years later Cornwell decided to write a fourth book which added nothing to the story at all.

Duma Key by Stephen King. You'll feel like you're on vacation.

Lord of the Flies by William Golding. Another solid piece of escapism, if you enjoy fun desert island adventures.

The Galaxy's Edge books. Basically Star Wars mixed with gritty military techno thrillers. Imagine stormtroopers in Afghanistan and it expands from there.

Each book goes by quick so I recommend getting the Amazon book unlimited thing for a 1 month trial and just download the lot of them.
