Hi. I need a reliable, fast and free ripper for use at work. Two thumbs up to anyone who can recommend me a really good one.

Okay, to be actually helpful...

I second the suggestion for Exact Audio Copy. Simply the best there is. Use it with LAME 3.90.3 or 3.96.1

Anyway, I use CDex. EAC is nice but for simply ripping audio, it's a bit complex.
Don't forget to download the LAME 3.96.1 DLL and place it in the CDex main directory.
You can DL it at http://www.rarewares.org/.

Ha, this is interesting:

The highly effete LAME 3.90.3 is finally gone. It's no longer being recommended as preferred version - 3.97beta took its place.

Therefore, it will no longer be offered here at RareWares. All custom builds and DLLs have been removed from the MP3 page, and the bundle will be removed in a few weeks.
Also, since 3.97b is now the officially recommended version, compiles for as many platforms as possible are being provided. You read that right: the esoteric platform madness is back, with the usual oddities: HP-UX, Tru64 unix, Solaris, and so forth. Builds for those platforms will show up little by little at the MP3 page. If you're particularly hurried about a platform not yet graced with a compile, contact us with your request.

A BETA took the place of 3.90.3? Ha.
Then again, I can never understand why people continue to use 3.90.3 over 3.96.1 just because it's been "tested" more... what makes people doubt that 3.96.1 would be any more lossy or less efficent that 3.90.3?

Ha, I think it's funny that proponents of the exclusive use of 3.90.3 were always using the "it's been tested the most!" line, but how long has 3.97b been tested?
