My friend recommended I drink red bull before our lacrosse games to get pumped up. He said he did it before football games and its effects were awesome.

So I did it today (drank two of them.) I was definitely more pumped up then usual and could feel this energy rushing throughout my body. I played well also. So I see some benefits.

I'm reading up on it now, however, and am getting some pretty negative, scary information.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/1435409.stm

Last year, the coroner at the inquest into the death of 18-year-old Ross Cooney from Limerick, called for more research into the effect of energy drinks.

Ross died of sudden adult death syndrome after a basketball match. Hours earlier he had drunk three cans of Red Bull.

Now, after drinking these red bulls, I'm waiting around two hours before playing. While playing, I'm doing lot's of running with physical contact here and there.

Anyone know if this shit is really that dangerous?

ive only had red bull once. the reason being is the only effect it had on me was it made my heart beat really fast, but it didn't seem to boost my energy at all. i figured the fast heart beating couldn't be good so i didnt try it again

It's got a shitload of caffeine in it if I remember right. If you don't drink coffee you get a nice buzz from it.

It's the taurine, I think. That shit (I get the sugar-free stuff) gets me pumped and kicks my ass in a way coffee never could.

I first tried it in May last year (it wasn't in Canada at the time.) It tasted like crap, but it was a nice Taurine boost, yes.

I drank one before each exam last semester. Results were: Ace on the history final (I crammed the entire course the night before), a pass on Precalculus (which is a bloody miracle) and a modest 95% on my final Computer Science.

I recommend it for exams, though it's expensive.

I actually think Full Throttle is pretty decent. I can't go back to regular energy drinks though after having Sparks though. It just isnt the same.

Last year of college I'd drink a Red Bull when I needed to stay up all night to finish work. Couldn't possibly have been healthy. That stuff really fucked with my metabolism. I'd start shaking almost immediately and then I'd have to piss every half hour. It kept me up though, but I avoid that stuff now. All-nighters aren't healthy to begin with, let alone drinking this Red Bull crap.

What? Sparks is almost as bad as the Bud Energy drink (i refuse to type the name). The fact that there's like 20 ounces of it only worsens the matter.

i've tried most of the energy drinks (aside from that crazy Japanese one), and Red Bull comes second only to Amp in terms of energy (via caffeine). i prefer the taste of Red Bull though.

I'm actually glad it's so expensive around here, because I like the stuff, yet I know it's not good for you. If it was cheaper, maybe I'd end up drinking it more often (I have maybe a can a month now)
