Sorry if old, did a search and couldn't find anything regarding RE4 PC version.

According to the admin at Capcom-Europe forums, a PC version of RE4 will be released in Europe.

OK, here is the information which I have at the moment about this:

1) It looks as though RE4 will be released on PC in Europe this year.

2) as we do not have much experience with PC titles nowadays (it's been a long time since we released a big PC title in Europe) we are looking for a distribution partner to work with. So:

3) RE4 will be released in Europe, but not by Capcom Europe. It looks as though the game will be released by someone else.

Who? When? I hear you ask. Well, I would tell you if I could. There's no information available about this yet.

Well even if they do release RE 4 on the PC it probably isn't going to be a superior version or anything like that, for the information tendered up above, it doesn't look Capcom has the A-List working on a PC Port, ya dig.

Not only is Mikami cutting off his head, but I'm pretty sure he's off somewhere sawing off his legs.

Poor guy.

They should do a quick Xbox port too now, should be effortless since they've got a PC build. In fact a multiplatform "Director's Cut" across GC/PS2/PC/Xbox might not be a bad idea.

Hi there. I got this months issue of PCGamer (UK) and quickly found that "The Spy" (an unknown character who reveals gaming secrets) believes that Capcom will be releasing Resident Evil 4 for the PC this year.
I was simply wondering if anybody could get official confirmation of this.
Cheers, and take it easy...

This is what PCGamer was talking about?

edit: probably not

Mine. I don't see too many ways they can fuck this up. I always felt that the PC versions of RE1/2 were the best renditions though I haven't played Nemesis because the game sucks anyway. They always throw in a couple of cool extras in the PC version anyway so we'll see what happens.

That is if they see fit to include mouse support as opposed to be a game that is best served by getting one of those Gamepad deals.

Actually, CVX, Zero and ReMake might make good PC ports too.
I doubt it...

CVX could be decent, but is a bit dated. Zero and REmake would be bad candidates, as their backgrounds max out at 640x480 and would show plenty of encoding artifacts on a PC monitor.

RE4 would be perfect for the PC, though.

I dunno, they're rereleasing Biohazard 2 PC... budget ReMake/Zero ports would probably fly with the same audience.

This is 100% confirmed. I work as a moderator over at those forums, and, as the admin said, it's beind developed and released by another Company with Capcom's permission.

The same has been done with Onimusha and Onimusha 3 too.

Resident Evil 4 with high resolution and possible online multiplayer? If not official then teh geeks will make it happen.

No thanks i'll pass.

We can go ahead and call that strike one against Resident Evil 4 PC and Onimusha 3 PC for that matter.

Futhermore, something that does not seemed to have addressed yet is North American availablity, that has not been mentioned yet.

Well you can't really region-lock PC games, so if comes out in Europe, it'll be available to US gamers.

32 bits colour, FSAA and better texture filtering would make it look tons better as both the PS2 and the GC versions had a pretty shitty IQ. I have the GC game but I am only 30 minutes on it so this could be really nice. That or at least a half-decent Xbox port (which won't happen, I am afraid)

On a side note - for all those that would like it to have mouse-look, I agree! It's another reason that I think that a similarly styled (gameplay-wise) Resident Evil title would work really well with the Rev controller. :-)

I don't really care about this port, but that's just nonsense

Why is my claim nonsense? Is it due to the fact that games in question are Resident Evil 4 and Onimusha 3? This is all a bit too vague for me to just jump in headfirst and declare undying admiration. I say this is strike one since these are farmed-out ports we are talking about and those well tend to be the worst of the lot. On the other hand, another question that needs to be asked is who is publisher/developer combo that is handling the ports? Has Capcom placed these games in trustworthy hands or put their fate into those who would just release a straightforward jankfest?

now Konami should counter this with a double-pack Zone of the Enders 2 Anubis + Metal Gear 3 Subsistence enhanced for PC...

/dreaming

...which was absolutely terrible

what was wrong with Onimusha 3 PC port?

Wait... how would the controls work (if this somehow comes out to be true)?

If it uses standard kb/mouse FPS controls, it will become INSANELY easy. Forget standing in a middle of a group of Ganados -- I'll just strafe circles around them and destroy the mofos within seconds.

That's not a grammar mistake -- it's spelling.

Your bolded part suggested the fact Capcom isn't porting it is "strike one", which doesn't really make sense especially since we don't know who is. Can you give examples of these "farmed-out ports" that are the "worst of the lot"? Not that I see even see how those are related, unless the games in question were developed by Capcom.

edit: Final Fantasy VII, VIII and MGS ports are terrible admittedly. Not that you can really call them "farmed-out".

Onimusha 3 port = garbage. About equivalent to the Grandia II PS2 port, in my opinion.

If it was just an outsourced budget PC port, it probably wouldn't be too pretty. They'd likely just take existing graphical assets from the Gamecube version and slop it over to the PC, a la the Square/Eidos FF7 & FF8 PC ports of old. Maybe Capcom still has original higher-res assets they can provide. I would love nothing more than a high-res FSAA capable RE4, although I can't help but wonder how it would control.

I do not believe this news at all.

That being said it CANNOT be STRESSED enough that RE4 would need major, major, major control scheme redesign to fit the PC.

Reason?

Game difficulty with mouse aiming = 0.01 * GCN's difficulty

Sure would look goddamn pretty in 1600x100, FSAAx16, AFx16...

I just downloaded the Onimusha 3 PC demo and it runs flawlessly with my PC (3500+ 6800GT), 640x480 silky smooth 60 fps and works with my DualShock 2 to USB adapter (8$ :) ), so no need to config anything. (Those playing without the adapter just press F1 to skip cutscenes and enter menu while INTRO key starts and pauses the game)

All of the Capcom games in Europe are released by Electronic Arts. This will be the case with this title also (if the above info is true). I'm sure it's going to be a straight port from the GC version. Do not give hope for better textures and ingame models.
