Resident Evil Revelations 2 takes place between Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6.

The year is 2011. Claire Redfield, now a prominent member of TerraSave, is in attendance at a celebration where she meets up with Moira Burton.
Moira is the newest member to join TerraSave and a longtime friend of Claire's.

Unbeknownst to Claire, Moira Burton is being watched by an unknown party, and a group of masked members infiltrate the party and take attendants hostage.
Tranquilised, Moira and Claire are abducted and taken to a remote prison island.

Claire and Moira awake inside a seemingly abandoned prison. They've been outfitted with bracelets that are used by somebody watching to measure their "fear levels".
The cell doors open on their own, but while Claire and Moira think they've escaped, they're really participating in a gruellish study of human experiment and survival.

Meanwhile, on the main land, Barry Burton is working as an advisor to the BSAA.
After hearing some intercepted audio of his daughter Moira crying for help, he makes his way to the island to attempt to save her.

Appearances:
Resident Evil 2 (1998)
Resident Evil CODE: Veronica (2000)
Resident Evil: Degeneration (2008)
Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles (2009)

A former college student and younger sister to S.T.A.R.S. member Chris Redfield. Claire is a strong minded woman who has a tender and emotional side to her.

She was embroiled in the fight against bioterrorism during the Raccoon City Incident. Worried for her brother, she travelled to Racoon City to find him following
the initial outbreak in Raccoon City. There, she met Leon S. Kennedy and Sherry Birkin. Following their desperate attempt to survive and escape she eventually
vowed to take down Umbrella.

Her exploits brought her to an Umbrella facility where she was subsequently captured and detained on Rockfort Island. It is here that she met Albert Wesker and
the Ashford family (or at least it's remains) during her attempt to escape the prison island. With the help of her brother, she managed to escape unharmed but not
before a slight detour through Antarctica.

Sometime following this, vowing to do her part in the war against bioterrorism, she joined the non-government organisation known as TerraSave. Her dealings with
this company brought her to Harvardville in a controllled protest against the WilPharm Corporation and their clinical testing in certain parts of India. Unluckily, she
was involved in yet another attack in the airport. Discovering WilPharma's true intentions, she arrested the instigator behind the attacks along with Leon and moved
on with her life, becoming a seasoned agent of TerraSave.

Appearances:
Resident Evil (1996)
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (1999)
Resident Evil (2002)

A former U.S. government operative and one of the few surviving members of S.T.A.R.S. He is a gun-nut and collector of firearms as well as bonafide NRA member.

A family man at heart, he is married to Kathy and has two daughters with her - Moira and Polly.

During the Mansion Incident, Barry was blackmailed by Albert Wesker to carry out his nefarious plans behind Jill and Chris' back. Playing on his affinity for his family,
Wesker had taken his family hostage and forced Barry to lure the remaining S.T.A.R.S. members to the B.O.W. project known as "Tyrant" in order to collect test data.
Thanks to the help of himself and Brad Vickers, Barry and the other members of S.T.A.R.S. were able to escape the Arklay region unscathed but vowed to bring down
those responsible.

Barry and Jill Valentine independently investigate Umbrella following these events. Sometime in Europe, he realised that Jill Valentine was still stranded in Raccoon
City. Through a desperate and yet cunning contingency plan, Barry secured a civilian helicopter and managed to save both Jill Valentine and UBCS Agent Carlos
Oliveira moments before the city's destruction.

Barry's desire to bring down Umbrella had him join several secret military agencies, but after the dissolution of one he joined the BSAA as a combat specialist.

DEBUT APPEARANCE

Born in 1991, Moira was moved along with the rest of her family to Canada for her own protection while her father investigated Umbrella. Sometime during this period of
her life, she suffered a terrible trauma that has resulted in her not being able to properly handle weaponry, to the point where she refuses to do so.

Moira idolises Claire, and attempts to follow in her footsteps to join TerraSave. She almost always is arguing with her father to the point where she coldly refers to him
on a first name basis. She is typically cheerful but has all the hallmarks of a typically rebellious youth.
nataliaaagnpdn.png

DEBUT APPEARANCE

A mysterious child, presumed to be an orphan, that Barry encounters on the mysterious island that Claire and Moira have been captured on. Similar to Moira, she does
not use conventional weaponry. Instead, she uses throwable items like bricks to distract or slightly hurt enemies.

She exhibits come kind of strange form of extra sensory perception that Barry doesn't fully understand. But these skills are handy for her as a support character
overseerkyqqs.png

???

A disembodied voice that taunts Claire and Moira. They are obsessed with the works of Franz Kafka and repeatedly quote many of his famous works. They are conducting
strange experiments on the concepts of human will to survive and torture.

They are confirmed to be a character that "hardcore fans" of the series will know. Until then, their identity remains a mystery.

Raid Mode returns from Revelations, presumably bigger and better. The mode will be presented across three different difficulties, with over 200 missions available.
Raid Mode will be offered as an offline-only mode when the first episode is released. It will be playable both solo or splitscreen co-op. Online functionality will be added later.

Capcom promises that a lot has changed in Raid Mode from Revelations to Revelations 2. There will be several new weapons and custom parts in Raid Mode as well as about
four time as many characters skills as previously available. Skills come in both passive and active flavours - and allow you to further customise your characters so that they'll
be unique. Capcom offered an example where your Claire might be geared up more for defense while another player's might be geared up more for speed and mobility.

There will be 15 playable characters in total. Each episode of the game you purchase will add additional characters to Raid Mode. As mentioned above, purchasing the Complete
Season will get the player HUNK from the get-go. Similarly, purchasing the Retail Package will get you Albert Wesker. If you choose to just buy the episodes, you'll be able to
purchase HUNK and Wesker as separate, paid downloadable content.

Capcom have so far confirmed that Claire, Moira, Barry, HUNK, Wesker and Gina will be playable in Raid Mode.

While not confirmed, Raid Mode will be privvy to all kinds of support post-launch. The first map pack, offered to purchasers of the retail package or as a pre-order bonus on the
Playstation Store, contains four different locations from Resident Evil 6 and Resident Evil Revelations

Where is the Vita version?
We don't really know much about it. It's being handled by Sony's own team external to Capcom, but we don't know if it's releasing at the same time as the others.

Does the game support CrossBuy?
Yes, but only if you have pre-ordered the complete season on the Playstation Network. You'll get the Playstation 3 and Playstation 4 versions for the price of one, but Capcom have said "you'll have to wait".

What does this game look like? What's powering it?
Early reports from reliable sources say it's considerably "cross-gen" looking. We don't know what's powering it but we can probably assume MT Framework.

What resolution does the game run at?
We're not sure what resolution it renders at but we do know that Capcom have confirmed that the framerate is 60fps. Impressions indicated this is solid too.

I didn't play the first Resident Evil Revelations, should I?
Honestly, you don't have to. The developers have been pretty clear that Revelations refers to a "concept of Resident Evil" rather than a direct continuation.

So, what should I play in preparation of this?
There's no real required play for this, but I'd imagine for best results you'd possibly want to play CODE: Veronica and watch Degeneration. Maybe even Resident Evil 2 if you've got time.

Wait, so does this game not have co-operative in the campaign?
Yes, it does. The campaign contains splitscreen co-operative modes, but does not allow for online play. Online play will be exclusive to Raid Mode.

Are there any unlockables?
We don't entirely know, however there is some evidence to suggest unlockable "Invisible" and "Countdown" modes for each episode.

I heard the game had microtransactions and makes you PAY to continue!
In Raid Mode only there is a currency called "Life Crystals". These can be earnt in-game or purchase with real money. They will let you respawn during a Raid mission without losing
your score but they are by no means required to continue normally. They most certainly are not usable or prevalent in the main story episodes.

Why is this OT so shit compared to your others?
:( Shit went down at work in the last week, people got fired, I got promoted, twice. Responsibilities mounted and now I'm busier than ever. I'm sorry. But it is meta - it reflects the budget!

Preordered on PC via GMG, can't wait for Wednesday to come! Will be interesting to experience it episodically on release...

Time to see how it compares to Dead Aim, my current favorite spin-off Resident Evil game.
Outbreak is the only spin-off games I haven't played yet, likely may top it whenever I get a chance to play them.

I actually am finding myself more excited than I expected, but then low budget in horror games don't bother me.

Resident Evil Revelations was my first completed game in 2015 so I'm still fresh and curious for this title to be honest, just need to check my budget. I've seen some gameplay in person on a Event I went couple of months ago and I liked it what I've seen so far.

Any news regarding the length of each episode? Perhaps 2 hours each?

PS: The OT is good OP, congratulations on your promotion, don't forget to rest and take care of yourself as well! ;)

Hard to justify buying this now when you know there's a complete edition planned once the episodic content is done. Also the game looks bad which is a shame for newer players who just discovered (or rediscovered) REmake HD.

Here come the "why no 3ds or wii u?" posts.

Seriously though, at least a Wii U version should have been made.

Too bad you can't do offline co-op with the main player on screen and the support playing on the Vita. I'm looking to play this with my gf but I hate split screen. Ah well.

(Pro controller for main and Gamepad for support on the non existing Wii U version would have been cool too)

dofry

That's "Dr." dofry to you.
So it's in 4 pieces, so does that mean that the retail version will arrive after the last episode is released? I want a full package to play.

It's said in the OP already. Out after final episode.

So is this like the previous game, a traditional style Resident Evil?

Revelations 1 was a pocked sized Resi 4/5/6 with the camera behind the player, more linear approach to levels cut up into chapters with different leads for each.

I'm guessing revelations 2 is more of that.

I'm sure Capcom said you can buy these as individual DLC, just that they are included in the above.

Few questions though...

Where is the Vita version? Does the game support crossbuy? Does the game look good? Does it run at a decent resolution? Should I play the first game before this one? Any preparations I should make? Are there unlockables? I like to unlock stuff.

If i remember correctly it also had more backtracking than 4/5/6

Dawg please

It's literally in the OT :|

They're estimating between 2 and 3 hours

Ah I see it now! My bad. I'm running on a couple of hours sleep today >.<

That sounds like a decent length. What are everyone else's plans? Episodic or waiting until the full game is out? 56 raid mode missions is made enticing D:
