Respect in GTA:SA

I have a habit of exiting the Johnson house and killing basically anyone I feel like it at the moment (trying to gain money or weapons usually). These are people in my neighborhood. Am I hurting my respect by doing this? Should I make sure not to kill people in my 'hood?

Or does it not matter one bit?

What does respect even get me in the game? Better prices on things???

Killing the green dudes does not reduce your respect gauge.
Actually i think you can't loose respect expect maybe for one gameplay that i won't mention because maybe you don't want to be spoiled.

I thought you lose it when a NPC on the missions dies.

Respect is really only useful as a signal for how far you've progressed in the game. By the time you get it all filled up, you're about to finish the game.

When in gang war, you lose territory and you lose respect i think. From my observation, killing your guys outside the gangwars gameplay does not affect your respect rating

gang members just get in the way. i never used any gang members when i did my gang battles. one man army

Don't do this kind of stuff so early. Too tedious.
Do the normal missions (around 10 or so) first and you'll get to the GANG WARS.

Gang Wars = tons of money, tons of weapons, tons of ammo and tons of FUN etc.

Uh... no. I just finished Los Santos and have maximum respect and I'm not even a 1/3 of the way through the game yet.

Question about gangwars, when your territory is under attack (which seems to happen to me every half hour or so), is there a way to cancel it? Like starting a mission or something?

You can kill cops for an hour or just put on green clothes and raise it significantly

I'd tell you why that is, but that would spoil it, wouldn't it? :D

Ahh... that makes sense, thanks.

Also my max muscle keeps going down, but I eat something. Then I do a mission and it tells me my muscle is going down again. I thought the eating in the game wouldn't be intrusive?

get 100 % on the gang wars. My respect maxed out and never dropped after that (significantly anyway) Though to be honest, beyond gang recruiting I am not entirely sure how your respect level affects the game.

work out at gym, don't worry about muscle for a while
eat, don't worry about eating for a while
ride bike at gym, don't worry about stamina for a while

Eat the higher-fat meals. You can eat about ten or so in one sitting, more than that and CJ throws up, losing the "fat" benefit.

If you've got fat built up, doing stuff will burn it off. If you've got no fat, then CJ will start burning muscle instead, which is why you keep losing it. Keep a good supply of fat going and your muscle will never drop.
