It's just that a lot of posts are so badly written that it takes me twice as long to understand what the person is trying to say.

I am a new member. I have been posting on the Insert Credit forums and their English is not so bad. It's been hard work trying to make sense out of many of the posts here...

1) do not radically edit your posts

2) the english language is defined by usage (really, all natural languages have this property)

3) work on your reading comprehension. one way: lurk more

That's why I will take it upon myself to remind everyone to give a little thought to proper grammar, syntax and spelling. I know that even those who laugh at my feeble attempts to improve the situation will have my suggestion at the back of their minds next time they post. In the end, if you butcher the language you just come across as stupid to everyone who reads your posts...

No, I'm pretty sure he was serious. We have people who measure these things. Oddly enough, homo-eroticism is up 35%. I don't quite understand that one.

natural languages are unique in that (what we may define as) the social quality of a message very often has no direct relationship to its degree of adherence to a particular syntactic convention

When one speaks with such lack of tact and uses insipid language, I feel as if English is being slaughtered. You carve out the soul of Thoreau, Lovecraft, and White Man with every grating, obnoxious, Philistine word after word. You, sir, hold the key to true language destruction- that of nothingness.

Also, if we are speaking in the terms of proper English, I've corrected you far past your lack of spacing and punctuation. To be able to write effectively in ANY language, one must have down the basic concepts of composition. Basic concepts that you have failed to grasp. Therefore, I've indeed corrected your writing style, as it is passive and poorly-written. I have corrected your English.

Like I said, you corrected a couple of commas. "English language" commas, if you insist. Still no one is above making mistakes. All I asked for is for people to take a bit more time when posting in order to make it easier for others to understand what they are trying to say.

Your original plea was to kindly respect the English language. All I ask is that you do the same, less you be marked a hypocrite. Please, I beg of you, respect the English language by not using blanket statements, passive writing styles, and insipid vocabulary. The English language is a wide, wonderful language. Please take good care of it.

As for Mr Grammar, if youre young, its a phase. You are weak so you probably think knowledge will save you from leading a complete waste of a life. You'll figure that shit out soon enough.

If youre older, youre a lost fucking cause.
