Restricted Area demo rocks!!

I was just reading about this game over at IGN PC. Looks like an interesting game, may have to give it a look when I get home later.

Just a heads up, you can't save the game in the demo. Just finished the first mission and unfortunately the demo ends after that. :(

Apparently the full version is due in a week, though! Definitely going to pick it up if I can track down a copy.

Been waiting for awhile for this one. It sucks that it has been out in Europe for awhile and only now have we even gotten a demo over here.

It hardly "Rocks." I wish I could say it does, but Diablo 2 (which came out 5 years ago) is still a MUCH superior game both in terms of art and gameplay. I will pass on this one.

The playable character in the demo is Kenji Takahashi, who is essentially the warrior class, but the IGN writeup reveals two other characters that are playable in the full version:

Players who prefer more subtlety in their approach will likely choose one of the other two characters. Victoria Williams can make use of a wide variety of psionic powers. She's the first person in history to manifest these abilities, leading some to deny her humanity. Those with more practical considerations in mind have tried to abuse her gifts. At a young age Victoria was kidnapped by a corporation and subjected to numerous tests. She escaped during an attack on the corporation but she vows to return to exact her revenge.

Jessica Parker is also a very subtle character. A child of privilege, Jessica ventured out into cyberspace to find the excitement and affection her wealthy parents denied her in the world. Jessica soon began committing crimes in cyberspace, crimes that her parents' wealth and status couldn't wash away. After a brief stint in prison, Jessica escaped with the help of an unprogrammed guard robot. She can enter cyberspace as needed and relies on her nearby drone when pressed to fight.

The gameplay is virtually identical to Diablo II, from the targeting system, right down to the variety of weapon drops. The art style is arguable, but I think comparing the art to Diablo II is sort of missing the point anyways. If you like the art style of Crusader, Shadowrun or Fallout, chances are you'll appreciate this game's style as well.
