With all the talk of bringing back old franchises which game series have made a successful comeback with the latest games being as good as the originals (or near enough)?
My vote would go with Panzer Orta, VF4 Evo, Ninja Gaiden and Ecco
It's a testament to Appaloosa that they made Ecco DOF a game that didn't insist on holding your hand through the level unlike some games these days. Was it as good as the originals though? Well having completed it, which isn't an easy task, yes. It plays just as you'd expect a 3d incarnation to, the graphics were (and are?) amazing and when you clear the level you get a real sense that you've actually acomplished something. Plus it had Tom Baker narrating it.
after not seeing a game released for 8 years and then having Metroid Prime and Fusion (though fusion felt alot different than most metroid games with how it held your hand but anyway) Metroid gets the number 1 spot here
I'd like to say Maximo too BUT with the second game it really came to stand out on it's own so I'm starting to consider that it's own series rather than just the rebirth of GnG
