So, there's a bagel shop/deli (bagels, salads, kinishes, muffins, etc.) near my house, and the pricing is:

Veggie Burger: $3.25 each
Veggie Burger: $5.75 sandwich

So, I asked, how much is it for a veggie burger on just a roll, with no condiments, dressing, or other sandwich like things.

... $5.75.

So then I ordered a plain bagel, and a veggie burger (patty only), paid $3.95, proceeded to walk my bag of food over to the side counter, and placed the veggie patty inside the bagel. They looked at me as if I'd done something wrong.

I keep picturing Chris Rock in I'm Gonna Git You Sukka.

How much for just one rib?

How bout you pour it in my hand for a quarter?

Keep it up though. I would have loved to seen their faces. :lol

So they offer no other benefits to the sandwich? Mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato, etc? Just a patty on something else? And furthermore, what the hell are they doing just selling veggieburger patties? If they're stupid enough to sell stuff like that, then they deserve you taking advantage of it.

goddamit, Griese!
on a related note...

if you eat White Castle, it's cheaper to buy buns(yes, just the plain buns. they're 10 cents each) and a seperate order of chicken rings, you can make your own chicken ring sandwiches for a lot cheaper than buying the sandwiches.

What's so special about these veggie patties that makes them worth so much money?

Lotsa processing to make it taste decent.

Sorta OT, but when I was a wee lad in Korea, I use to love this corndog made from this fishcake weener. It was mmm mmm so delish! Anyways at my most recent grocery trip, I wanted some weeners, but was appalled at the amount of calories per weener they were listed on the package. So I decided to try one of those vegetarian hotdogs. Turns out, it's really close to the flavor of that fishcake hotdog I use to eat back in Korea! Only 50 calories per weener to boot!

A bit expensive (like $4 per package), but I love it!

A single heated patty alone was $3.25... I could get a package of Quorn or Gardenburger for a bit more and get a whole box of patties or whatever.

With all the money you saved at the grocery store the other day, you should be able to afford this. :D :D :D

slayn

needs to show more effort.
what the hell kind of place offers to sell just the patty?

As a side note, we had this alacart thing in school that was a buffet with burgers/pizza and such. I believing the pricing was seomthing like sandwich - 2.50 and this term referred to burgers as well. So then people would make quadruple cheese burgers and walk out saying its their one and only sandwich :D

I would bang a hot farmer!

You shouldn't have done that, now they know the trick and will eliminate it. Or if that fails, ban you. :lol

i don't get why "vegetarians" want to eat vegetables in the shape form and taste of meat...
Because they need protein, and it's cheaper and easier to eat soy products than to just eat a ton of vegetables with protein? Because eating just tofu all the time would get pretty boring? Because choice is cool? Because some of the stuff they do with fakemeat is pretty cool (I've seen veggiesteak with fake fat on it, that had the exact texture of fat!)?

I don't mind Yves' Veggie Ground Round if you make tacos out of it, that's pretty fucking awesome, actually. You can barely tell a difference, and it's pretty cheap.

Frankly, i generally don't like vegetarian foods that taste like meat or other animal products. i prefer the Gardenburger portabella burgers over the fake beef stuff that's out there. i'm glad they're out there for those who want them though.
