Finally.
I've been wanting to play this since I saw the creator on toco toco.

I had 0 interest when I first saw this but the more I read about it, the more I am looking forward to checking it out.

I guess it was a big inspiration to Toby Fox for Undertale as well.

I read about this game I believe back on the Assembler Game forums when that was still up and running. Game looks very interesting and I think I'll give it a shot.

any reviews?
never mind the art style turned me the fuck away from it.
eww

This is pretty shallow, don't be such a graphics whore. HG101 has an excellent write-up on the game; it is NOT a typical JRPG whatsoever!

Hope this makes it to PC someday, have always wanted to play this game but no Switch at present :(

it has nothing to do with me being a graphics whore honestly. The sprites just look shit. Like i am not a fan of the streets of rage 4 look. But this? holy shit man

Weird that it's a PS1 game but only released on Switch, but otherwise it's great to have Moon finally out to the rest of the world.

Eh, did you see it in motion though? It's got a style of its own and also tosses in some pretty advanced (for the time) sprite/BG coloring/lighting effects. It does have a problem where shadows or something are off, and so characters sometimes seem like they're floating on top of the background rather than inhabiting the world, but I think otherwise it looks fairly modern for a PS1 game (which may or may not be the problem for you in the first place...)

"Why does the QUOTE UNQUOTE hero kill thousands of innocent monsters?"

Cringe

Mad at woke culture circa 1997...

Fair enough. The game has a more "SNES-like" visual look for the parts where you're "in" a JRPG, but the sprites for when you're "out" of the game are meant to be more of that game's version of reality.

It's probably an acquired taste, but I personally like it.

Might be playable on switch emulator, seems like it wouldn't be demanding.

Forgot all about that! I'd actually like to support this one with an official purchase, but I'm guessing I could just do that and then play it on the Switch emulator.

...Nintendo if you're reading this, don't do anything. This is just a "thought experiment" 👍

Just started this and pretty immediately realized that all the games these guys made after this were following moon's formula.

I died two or three times in a row just by running out of energy, reminds me of the early game of Chibi-Robo, and all this talk about love and using it to level up while asleep was all carried over into Chulip.

I'm really early on but it seems pretty cool so far. I know it's a longshot but if this ends up selling decently maybe Nintendo might notice and think about bringing Giftpia to the west? I know a Captain Rainbow translation is probably never gonna happen but it's a shame so many of their games never had the chance to make an impression in America.

Shame there is no activity for this game here yet there are lots on the cult board.
It is a damn shame.

Kinda funny too, because some of the writing seems like the sort of thing that'd get them up in arms.

I just met the Eco Club, and their ultra feminist character, Femi, got me laughing pretty good.

I'm still waiting for a physical versionn. And for some Etsy seller to make a PS1 repro with this translation for sale (wanna play it on my Trinitron CRT). But i'm still gonna buy the physical Switch version once it goes up for sale.
