Return to Silent Hill gets a theatrical release on January 23 2026.

This movie seems to be going through some issues it seems. They announced it in 2022, shooting was done in 2023 and it was originally supposed to release either last year or this year's Halloween.

Yeah it definitely hasn't had a smooth lifecycle. But reading that Yamaoka enjoyed it is pretty neat. But I'm definitely not getting my hopes up, lol.

The first SH movie rendition wasn't perferct by any means, but when it comes to gaming to movie adaptations, it was great, hope this one delivers

I actually really like the original Silent Hill movie. It's no masterpiece by any means but it got the atmosphere and having Yamaoka's music really helped. Plus Sean bean!

The sequel however...

Unpopular opinion: Yamaoka is not the name that used to be

The whole remake of SH2 is nice, but that's it. His music doesn't catch the same highs as back in the day

I hope the movie turns out to be great. I beg for this since ever. But let's be real and see that we don't have good signs

Can't remember anything from the sequel,, idk because it was bad, because it was a RE style, do whatever and call it "name of franchise" o both :pie_roffles:

yamaoka is still the goat.

We don't talk about the sequel. It doesn't exist... at least officially.

They did SH3 dirty with that one.

I recall seeing the first stills they put a while back and I wanted to immediately throw myself into an active volcano.

I'd love to be proven wrong though!

The original SH wasn't a terrible popcorn movie. It was an interesting take on the first game, to say the least. Rather reductive and simplistic. But to succeed in theaters it rather has to be, doesn't it? I didn't exactly hate it.

Kimihiko Higashio took over Konami's game development since 2020 and since then there's just been good news: new metal gear, new silent hill and this movie. I think we're in for a good film.

I don't really care for the work outside of what he's done for Silent Hill in the past, but I'll always respect him.

I do to, but yeah, video game live action is always a mixed bag, haha.

I hope to god they dont bring Pyramid Head to movie like in the first movie....I get his iconic design in SH2 but it just dont fucking make sense to be there.

His there because of James and no one else.

Ironically, this movie is the only one where Pyramid Head would make sense, considering it's direct adaptation of SH2.

The first movie captured the atmosphere of the games incredibly well. The entire intro and lead up to the first sirens is perfection. Soundtrack really did it justice. I hope this is a return to form after the disaster follow up attempt.

Yes, it's Silent Hill 2 in movie form.

James Sunderland (Jeremy Irvine) and Maria (Hannah E. Anderson) production still.

This looks like a porn parody

Considering it's being directed by Christophe Gans again, I'd imagine the same attention and love is there as it was in the first film, if not more so. But yeah, I agree some of the shots look a bit odd, but we'll see how it pans out.

Loved the first one. To this day the best video gamw adaptation. Part two on the other hand… Lets not talk about that.

Hope the new ones turns out good. Will give it a chance.

It already got a german FSK 16 age rating so I thought it would be released in the next few weeks, not next year lol

No this pic is pretty old, more than a year. The movie is long done I guess they never found a distributor until recently.
Oh well, let's hope it's just an unflattering picture then. I still have high hopes, because I loved the first movie and having faith in the director. Hopefully won't disappoint.

It looks really terrible. The actors look like they're cosplaying, the girl in particular looks like she's wearing a wig.

This pic is fucking hilarious every single time. I've seen costumes and wigs in a Spirit halloween store bargain bin that look more realistic. It reminds me of early DeviantArt days level of cosplay.

I still don't know if this is a real still from the movie or silly AI but if so, just wow.

ffs....

I hold my head in my hands. The SH2 remake was pretty much perfect, we couldn't just leave it at that Konami?

Really liked the first film, especially having to deal with so many pathetic low tier game to film adaptations. The 2nd film was offensively bad on a human level. What a waste of money and resources, fucking horseshit. Plus all the shots catering to 3D of a character standing alone with a black background throwing something towards the screen. Low effort and low quality bollocks.

I dunno how to feel about this new film, something feels cheap about it, but I'll keep an eye on it and see how it goes. If its on the level of the first film at least, I'll be happy.

For those who don't know, January is the dumping ground for movies that studios think are trash and won't make much money. No hopes for this one.

Aka "Fuck You It's January"

Also there's been zero marketing for this movie. You actually have to dig deep to find a trailer for it on Youtube.

I 100% agree. SH2re music was not that great. But his work in Slitterhead still has his unique sound. I'm almost positive it had to do with the additional composer for SH2re or maybe his budget was not that great.

SH2R's soundtrack was fantastic, but tbh I never cared for the musical scores of Silent Hill, as the ambient background is far more important to me, which I think Yamaoka absolutely still has it in him.

I had hope given it's the same director as the first one. That shot is rough though..

First one actually looked like a movie and had tonnes of atmosphere, fear this one is gonna feel more like a cheap Netflix show and forgo the feels.
