So what eventually happened to Seta's Gran Turismo Beater.
The advanced physics seemed pretty good for the time.

It never looked that great and GT really destroyed. Funny all Nintendo deal with are kids stuff now.

This was actually shown beyond screenshots?? IIRC it was first shown way before GT was known. The promise of this game is the reason why I looked past the PSX until GT finaly did come out and inturn destroyed my Nintendo fanboyism.

World Driver turned out quite good apparently. Looked the business too. Shame GC has NO exclusive racer.

The game looks good, it just fell off the face of the earth. It would be nice to see Rev Limit, Sin and Punishment and Earthbound 64 make it to DS, but that's probably just wishful thinking. Nintendo needs another racer on their systems besides F-Zero, WaveRace or 1080. They need something more traditional with real cars (not necessarily licensed though). Burnout was the only racer on GC worth mentioning and they lost that. Maybe it's time they NST or Retro create an original racer. Or perhaps they could have Sega or Namco develop something for them.

It has GT Cube !!!!!

It's a pretty unpleasant situation for Nintendo since that's probably the only genre they can redefine to their likes. GT is always marking the trend...

GT Cubes similarity in graphics to Automodelista(sp?) gives me a sick feeling. I hope the controls/physics are more agreable.

I would love to see a traditional arcade racer come out of Nintendo. I think EAD could pull it off very well (MK: DD had a really good feel to it.)

GT Cube? Where did this game come from all of a sudden.

GT Cube was a Japan only release based on the GameBoy GT games. As ourumov stated, the game reported plays like crap.

I am going to assume that we are just talking about realistic looking racers and that F-Zero GX and Mario Kart: Double Dash never existed.

The control in WDC was horrid.
The collision system was not forgiving. One tap and you go flying, which is was the AI was set to do in all cases.

EADNinja said Rev Limit was still in production for GCN.

Yes. You know i cant live without Mario Kart.

World Driver Championship controlled pretty similar to the Gotham games. The cars were a little too heavy though. I'd have to play it again to really refresh my memory.

World Driver Championship was a better driving game than Gran Turismo in my opinion. Gran Turismo just had gotta catch 'em all. The actual driving left much to be desired.
