Generally good scores.

It has 4-5 low scores that drag it down considerably on the metric scale, so this could easily be a bit higher.

Unfortunately, the game has some seriously low hype levels. I think some of the trailers were a bit weak, cause it looks better than I thought if you just watch some gameplay.

Pre-ordered yesterday. Play the ENTIRE demo. The gameplay is extremely fun and original. You control two characters at once, and all the movement and character actions feel great. Very fun mix of puzzles, combat, and unique platforming. Huge breath of fresh air.

Seems like we're going to actually learn a decent amount about Bayonetta as well. I already look at Cheshire completely differently.

Went with the physical copy. Just have a feeling it might be sorta rare.

Getting my version with steelbook today. Can't wait! Higher scores than I expected.

Honestly, at this point Nintendo should just buy them and give them an adequate/moderate budget to let 'em make the games that they want to make. That shouldn't break the bank for Nintendo, but would ensure a more diverse library of games. And for Platinum it would mean they wouldnt have to make crap games just to stay afloat.

This is literally one of the best looking Switch games. Its just so original with how its stylized that it takes you a while to grasp that they're going for this look 100% on purpose. It looks insane. Reminds me of parts of Psychonauts.

The game has a nice vibe similar to Sega CD - Dreamcast era Sega, examples i can think of for comparison are "Napple Tale" and "Mansion of Hidden Souls"

This is like Zelda, Okami/El Shaddai and the Wonderful 101 had a baby. It feels as polished as a Zelda game.

Some of these trials are getting really interesting in making you use both characters simultaneously. Combat is slowly expanding now with counters, dodges, elemental shifting, finishing move.

I dont see how this won't be in my top games of the year.

That's surprisingly higher than I expected.
Might check it out if it's ever on sale.

Is platinum games bad or good?
Both Bayonetta games are good according to the reviews.

The thing with Platinum is that when they are allowed to do the stuff they are good at and are given the time and budget to properly do so, they are great.
But their games, even the good ones, tend to sell poorly. So they are always struggling for money and seemingly taking on whatever project is offered to them because they can't really afford to say no

Just finished another great level. Clearly inspired by NieR Automata, at least partially. Then ending with a great boss fight. Then another new power that is fun to use. Totally loving the game.

The story is simple but actually adds a lot for Bayonetta fans. I'm not normally into prequels, but here it feels like they really hit the perfect balance of not being boring by explaining things you already know about the character, but you can still see some faint hints of where she goes when she grows up.

As far as the visuals, you literally just have to see it in person. There are so many original visual tricks they're pulling off that I can't really describe, and that are totally not visible when you see still shots. Literally one of the most striking visual styles I've seen since El Shaddai.

I'm at 41%, and I played quite a bit this weekend. Feels like a full game for sure. Long as any of the previous Bayonetta games.

Someone seriously needs to make a gif of this whole sequence.

The demo was truly awful, offering little more than your basic indie title, the "control 2 characters at once" thing was meh. Combat is so simple it's hilariously painful.

The game should be $50 CND TOPS.

This is another BUDGET AAA, sold at top dollar price, THEY save money, YOU get ripped off.

Cool to hear how people who own it are enjoying it. I played the snippet in Bayonetta 3 and it didn't feel like a lot was shown off. All I did was basically press forward on the joystick and once it got to the combat it ended. It didn't leave me with a decisive thought.

Its sick. Okami level effort from PG on this one. People will slowly start to realize how insanely good it is.

No one is playing it. Not even in the top 30 on the eshop. 99.9% of people on here haven't played it. Word of mouth will be very slow.

I picked it up but I feel like it will be a while until I get around to it. Seems from reviews like people who don't dig the "control 2 people at once" gameplay hate it and if they don't have an issue with that they love it

In a new interview with Famitsu (translated by Nintendo Everything), series creator Hideki Kamiya and Nintendo's Makoto Okazaki were asked about the possibility of Bayonetta Origins becoming a series of its own.

"If I just come out and say it openly, we want to make this title part of a new series, and keep expanding the world," said Kamiya. "There's plenty of preparation that goes into that, and we are having discussions along the lines of 'We want to do this kind of thing right?' with director (Abebe) Tinari. Although we haven't quite had any of those discussions with Nintendo yet…"

"So there's certainly nothing concrete we can say at this point, but personally at least, I don't think this is the end," Ozaki replied, laughing. "For now I think it would be best to listen to the opinions of everyone who played this game and consider where we should go next."

I love Platinum, when they make a good game its one of the best in the genre (Vanquish, Nier:A, Bayonetta, MGR etc.). But this game just doesn't appeal to me.

OK I'm ordering it. Thx for the input. I thought it was some short download able game but realise that's on me.

Played the demo, and first of all the game it's inspired obviously from the Brothers game. Then the atmosphere has a strong American McGee's Alice feeling.

Overall I liked what saw so far and I ordered the game.

In the middle of my second playthrough

First the game's presentation is simply amazing and full of details, each animation is unique and cool looking, the scenary looks as if it was painted by hand this is one gorgeous looking forest , the plot fills in the backstory well and the characters are charming, the combat system works as its so fun to beat those faeries with Chesire (if a bit simple.)the bosses become more and more EPIC as you play and the game ends on a high note, also the music is just wonderful

The only real problem i have is that Bayonetta Origins is clearly directed at a casual audience, wich can be good or bad depending on who you are, there is handholding, the combat unfortunately never becomes challenging or complex enough, even after upgrading the skill tree ,some of the puzzles are quite clever, but again not too challenging that you are going to get stuck on them, there is a focus on exploration and item collecting, but most of it is placed on a linear path that is not worth exploring the map over, kinda reminds me of Metroid Dread

What's more interesting about Bayonetta Origins is that the design template works well for future games, the camera perspective, art, and level design is a success and fits the Bayonetta world,if you take this game, add a deeper combat system,an actual scoring system, bigger level design, more challenge with less handholding you are going to get a true classic 👌

As it is i have to agree with the 80 scores, from what i seen the fans who are playing it are surprised and give positive impressions so there's that at least

I respect your opinion. Yes the levels are largely linear and it is a casual game. But I just took down the Jabberwock and honestly feel they tried to push the combat to the limit without it being broken. It was a a great boss; better than most Zelda bosses. I think they purposefully, and intelligently shied away from crushing difficulty when controlling two characters.
