Revisiting Hellblade 2

Game enthusiasts want unique gaming experience and then shit on anything innovative not up their alley.
I have played only the original one and I am glad I played it. So happy this 'cool stuff' exists.

jurassic park deal with it GIF

So what you're saying is that if these devs took those visuals and made an actual game out of it, it might be cool?

Imagine revisiting hellblade2
Never. Was glad when it (can't even call it a game) was over.
Besides the great motioncapturing and the character models, there is nothing that impressed me at all.
The levels looked and felt straight out of a UE5 tech demo and the image quality when actually playing (not photomode) was horrendously blurry even maxed out DLAA on a 4090.

After Hellblade 1 I was expecting them to flesh this all out and make a 20 hour bad ass game with far more depth. The original wasn't funded if I recall and was indie?

To then get the same thing twice was perplexing.

Their devil may cry game has great gameplay so they've already shown they can make a game with deeper gameplay and higher action.

Their studio has talent but I wouldn't say this game was bad if you go into it knowing it is what it is. Meeting it on its own terms.

As for what's next for the studio it better be far more ambitious gameplay wise.

This game gets a lot of undeserved hate from fanboys (similarly like The Order 1886), but I can't wait to finally play it on my ps5, one of the few games that scream "nextgen!"

So another playthrough and you love it ... do one more and becomes GOTY ...

Three is the charm. I remember.
I could see myself playing it again on ps5 if they add some stuff, but if it's the same game at $60+? Nah. I'll wait a few years for it to be on PS plus.

I wish some other dev would make a game like this, Something thats peak in graphics even if mild in gameplay, though I suspect it's not particularly rewarding given the sales.

And I'm lowkey surprised at the steam numbers, there's a subset of a population that buys top notch graphics cards but doesn't bother with the best looking game. Instead probably play counter strike on high

I wanted to play through this but the 30pfs on Xbox put me off sadly.

Did make me laugh that they tried playing that "30fps for cinematic reasons" card but it was much higher on PC of course lol

Would definitely give it a go again if it gets a 60fps patch.
Is it strange that I absolutely do see merit in playing this game on 30 fps rather than 60. It DOES look more cinematic, and less gamey.

Steam users love it (very positive reviews), reviews are good (81 on both open and metacritic).

I liked it very much. I didn't expect much different from what I got: a linear, short experience with the greatest presentation ever.

I don't get the hate the game gets around here. It was never presented as something different, or in a deceitful way.

Is it because it was a MS exclusive? Come on.

81 steam reviews aren't alot lad.

Going full visuals vs gameplay is not that interesting. It's like The Order 1886 or something.
But hey nothing wrong with enjoying this kind of game. I remember back in the day we had FMV games like Road Avenger and i had fun with it anyway.
