They're being developed by different teams at ATi though, right?

Last time I heard that was the case.

This is just another case of a slow news period encouraging dubious assumptions.

That's the rumor. Revolution = old ArtX team in California and Xenon = Canada team (Toronto was it?).

ArtX >>>>>> Canada Team.

Nintendo's GPU is in good hands. The system on the other hand is in Nintrendo's hands, which isn't good.

gamestar.de is the official site of the german PC games magazine with the best reputation.
However, the original article doesn't claim " Revolution GPU = Xenon GPU" at all.

Yep, the original article just claims that:

"At a conference ATI boss Terry Nickerson indicated that work on the Xbox2 graphicschip is as good as done. Both Nintendo and Microsoft manufacture the chips in license and are planning to their new consoles to market by the end of next year."

Nothing in the original article suggests that the chip is the same for both consoles.

The poor wording implies that the XBox 2 and Revolution chips are one and the same, anyone who doesn't know that ATi made two seperate chips for the companies can easily come away thinking that.

Not to mention there was an article posted here when the Xenon GPU was finished saying that they were basically going to move on to the Nintendo one next. There was no tie between the processors made at all.
