Revolution Idea re: Old Nintendo Games

I know the logistics of this haven't been thought through, but what do you think:

At various points it's been mentioned that maybe the Revolution can wirelessly transmit the audio/video data to a television. The problem with that, though, is that you wouldn't be able to get good quality (like a 640 x 480 resolution and whatnot). So how bout this:

The Revolution would be connect via a DV cable to the main television in order to play Rev games. But if you're not playing a Rev game, various people in the house can use the system to play up to 4 "classic games" at a time on various tvs throughout the house. I can play Super Mario Bros 3 in my room, while my little brother plays A Link to the Past in his room - all of this achieved via wireless video transmission. The requirements for these "classic games" (NES and SNES - maybe also N64) wouldn't tax the system, so it could run multiple games at once, and the quality of the video feed necessary wouldn't be beyond what's available for wireless transmission today.

Whatcha think?

transmit to ds please. I don't think consoles generally have "spare grunt" to do things like that though, don't they use their power for the main game?

Well to be fair, I don't think even the Revolution is gonna be so underpowered as to struggle with Super Mario Kart or Tetris Attack. Sounds like a very cool idea though, I like it.

Yeah, I figure the wireless receivers would be the big hurdle.

Yeah, this feature would only be for when actual Revolution games are not being played. The thing that spurred the idea was Iwata's talk of wanting a console that everyone in the house would be happy to have in the home... so what could be better for parents that want their kids to stop hogging the main tv with their game system than giving the kids to option to very easily go to another TV and play some classic games (games that would also be perceived by parents to be better than today's "violent" games :-))?

Good idea, but this is Nintendo we're talking about. They don't think we're smart enough to hook up something like that. Remember, we panic at the sight of a SNES pad and faint if we see a Dual Shock. Connecting a wire to play games online makes us wet our pants.

Hrmm... I think you may have misunderstood this part of Nintendo's stance. It's not that Dual Shocks make us (gamers... people that browse GAF, etc) scared, but rather that it scares away those who haven't played games since the NES era, or those who've never tried it to begin with.

Regarding wires vs. wireless, I think the goal is ease of set-up and use. It's a pain to buy extra ethernet cables to hook up an Xbox in the living room when your comp is in the bedroom. The idea of having everything wireless and only needing a USB adapter (which would cost about the same as the ethernet cable, depending on the length you need :)), is designed to help increase the number of people that actually go online.

Regarding my idea, I really don't think it will be implemented, but more because the technology isn't there yet, not because Nintendo thinks we'd be confused by it.
