Just a heads up to all three of you still using Kazaa.
The Recording Industry Association of America has filed new lawsuits against 761 people who allegedly use peer-to-peer software to trade music files without permission, the trade group announced this week.

The lawsuits included users of the eDonkey, Limewire, and Kazaa services, as well as 25 people using university Internet connections to distribute music files.

American University in Washington, D.C., Boston College, Iowa State University, and the University of Massachusetts were among the college networks used by those sued.

apparently my old school has some sort of special deal for students living on campus.. they are allowed to legally download tons of music using some software.. i hear the selection is actually pretty good as well.

i go to penn state university and all psu students get a free subscription to napster. unfortunately, you can only download; you can't burn anything without paying for it, but it's still a nice perk. i often put together large playlists for when i study.

Your school probably pays for a discounted subscription for the school to Rhapsody or Napster. You can download unlimited songs and listen to them. But you can only burn so many CDs a month though. It's pretty cool your school is doing that though.

I saw that ad the MPAA put out this week... they listed a bunch of screen names of people who had been caught violating. Like half of them were Kazaa names. I was just surprised that Kazaa was still up and running.

I haven't done any copyright violating lately.... I'm too scared of getting busted. :lol

ANyone have the actual list? I'm on limewire, though I rarely use it and I don't think anyone has ever downloaded anything from me.

They don't care about those who download. You can download a million files, they don't care. It's those who share who they go after.
