Wouldn't doubt if he was battling cancer or something, he went from elusive to downright secretive the past few years and I could see wanting to battle that in peace.

It was hard to believe, I was in massive denial, Legitimately devastating news. I always had this tiny fear he would pass early and leave the world with a broken heart. He had so much left to give. We can only hope Madvillainy 2, the Ghostface project and other proposed works were finished to spread his name and finally give him the credit he deserved.

Yeah, I hope there is a good balance of respecting the legacy while not digging through every thing that he had to eventually release it. The way Pac and J Dilla's music were handled post death always rubbed me the wrong way

Seriously!? Fuck me. I was reading someone's facebook comment earlier saying "well, we made it through 2020...." and I was having an internal laugh thinking, steady on there, we've still nearly five hours to go, anything could happen. This wasn't on my list of possibilities. RIP to one of the most talented guys in the game.

Haven't followed him (or anyone else really) since Danger Doom but his first four albums are among my favorite of all time and I could just bump them on rotation endlessly. I think his legacy goes beyond favorite rappers or producers and he's just one of the most creative artists I've ever listened to in Hip Hop.

Absolutely. His greatest strength is that he had the amazing gimmick(s) but also an insane amount of talent and unique vision/voice to back it up. The perfect rapper, honestly. Rest his soul.

Fucking devastating news, DOOM was one of my biggest idols, he inspired countless people with his fantastic music, unmatched lyricism, selfless personality and innovative styles within his projects. Almost every rapper and producer and most artists in general have been inspired by this man along the way in their careers and that's for good reason, the man was a genius and one of the greats.

My heart goes to his family and loved ones and I wish him the most peaceful of sleeps as he passes onto the next life.

I've been bumping DOOM nonstop since I was in high school. Lots of memories & close bonds with long time friends formed over listening to the villain.
The man was a creative force of nature and provided countless inspiration for me and my friends since we were teens.

Living off borrowed time the clock tick faster
That'd be the hour they knock the slick blaster

This one really surprised me. Liked Doom. Even youtube knew I liked doom lol. Always in my suggestions even though I was looking for new stuff. Just good music.

No kidding, the way pac was handled was atrocious. Remember the digital alteration they did to make him announce artists with his music produced by Eminem? Or worse when rappers jumped on his music and proclaimed if Pac was alive he’d be on there side? Fucking god awful. I think people know better than to try that nasty shit with DOOM.

Rap lost a true trailblazer and a musical genius, influencing the likes of Danny Brown, FlyLo, Tyler The Creator and many others. Madvillainy is easily on my Top 5 RAP albums ever. I wanted a true sequel for such a masterpiece, but guess that'll never happen, god fuckin' dammit...

2016 was a shit year for deaths but 2020 is giving a run for its money.
