Actually I agree with you on this game. Solid colors, especially for the road surface, would make the game look a little more clean. But for games like Tak3, they seem to be using textures pretty well.

One of the things that made the original a blast to play was the interactive environment.

That winning formula looks to be improved upon now that it's all-out 3D.

If you're playing zoomed in on Kunio's face, something is wrong.

Solid-color + cel-shade most of it. Save all the texture ram for the characters' faces.

Well, it doesn't seem like they've gone far beyond that. Slight clothing texture since DS cel shading wouldn't pull off clothing folds well on its own. Buildings with textures that look like 2D RCR.

Much more important than how it's looking in stills, though, is whether the animation and controls are done well. Gotta be able to be running around and pounding on these guys lickety-split.

Can you say GTA: River City?

Having said that, this game looks like it has potential. I just hope it plays more like Die Hard Arcade and less like TMNT(XBox,GC)/Batman:RiseofSinTzu(Xbox,GC)

What the fuck. That is the shittiest thing I've seen today. And I'm the guy that never bought a River City Ransom game until the EX GBA version, so I'll have to buy this thing.. I really do, I need to give these guys my money, because I bought that EX thing on ebay.. and I really love the game. LOVE IT.
