Well, We're done with the first day of our family trip from Houston to St. Louis and it's been a decent ride so far. Some notes...

-Driving in the pouring rain through Houston traffic SUCKS.
-The hills of Oklahoma are absolutely gorgeous
-Small towns in Texas are the coolest looking towns on Earth.

So the first day went by quickly because on this trip, unline my others, I have been able to keep myself occupied. Thank you, technology. I've played Metroid Prime 2 and watched 2 Tom Cruise flicks; 'The Last Samurai' and 'A Few Good Men'.

How do you pass the time on road trips? When I'm not aided by technology I usually read and sleep. The parents don't provide good conversation on the road because my mom is hard of hearing and my father is stressed because my mom insists that her voice can control the vehicle.

Heres a back road where we switched drivers.

Meditation, reading, and writing in a journal. I would never bring console on a road trip...that's the perfect time to distance yourself from that stuff as far as I'm concerned. But I hope you enjoy your trip :)

Um, what the fuck happened to reading the first post?
Well, if the little shitwit learned Spanish, he could drill a hole in the backseat and talk about Menudo with his Mexican maid in the trunk.

A good way to kill some time is to play one of those games where you name actors or any celebrity according to their names:

For example, I say a name, and it ends with an E.

Then the next person says another actor/actress whose name starts with an E.

You can make it about anyone, like hockey players, or movies, or video games. Good times.

I played that game all the time at work. I got disqualified when I said "Dennis Hastert", because they didn't believe me that he was Speaker of the House. I love that game so much.

I kill time by listening to music and playing GBA. If I'm in my parents' van, for cross country family trips, we hook up the PS2 to a small tv and watch movies. The staple, of course, is Police Academy. The first one. The GOOD one.

Take my GBA SP, make sure I am driving in the car with my siblings/partner/friends and about 40 CDs of music.

8-12 hours car trips are pretty easy to get through, especially if you are the driver. Make your feet sore though.
