A robot dog armed with a sniper rifle was unveiled this week in Washington, D.C. at the annual meeting of the Association of the United States Army. The robot, developed by Ghost Robotics, carries a SWORD Defense Systems Special Purpose Unmanned Rifle (SPUR). "Latest lethality 6.5 #creedmoor sniper payload from @SWORDINT. Check out the latest partner payloads @AUSAorg Wash DC. Keeping US and allied #sof #warfighter equipped with the latest innovations," Ghost Robotics tweeted Monday, alongside a photo of the "dog."

It’s too limited in its design.

They should build a larger one with an attached rail gun, enough interior space for a swimsuit model/marksman to manually operate the gun, and a radio that broadcasts disturbing sobbing noises across the battlefield.

This sounds exactly like a gamer taking a crack at being an engineer for the first time.
 
"Robot dog" is an entirely too marketable name for a gun turret on legs.

Like, honestly, I fully expect that the only reason its front legs aren't reversed for better stability and traversal on cross-terrain is that "spiderbot" is not as marketing-friendly.

Working in tech, I try to emphasize the dangers of it to everyone I meet (when the discussion arises).

AI is by far the most dangerous threat to humanity, currently. Global warming, asteroids, Yellowstone - we can't fully account for the when/if... AI is on the horizon and could wreak havoc in very short order.
