Oh man, I can twirl sticks pretty well, but not while actually drumming, wow.

Edit: Actually watching it again she doesn't do anything too complicated in terms of twirling, I could probably do that on an easier song.

Well, as I said, it is her budding stick skills, don't think she's been working on them long. Still, I can't get the repeated twirls she's doing with her snare hand from 00:45 to 1:00. And, yeah, an easier song would help...but she's decided to practice on YYZ....

I'm not an actual drummer, so I don't know if there's any correct terminology for twirling, but how exactly do you do that constant spin without having to reset the stick's position? I self taught myself to spin sticks as a kid for no particular reason other than to show off, but I was always at a loss as to how you do that one.

Have you tried Enter Sandman on expert? I bet you could beat that no problem. :p

Haven't dared try anything on expert - I have real problems playing anything by sight on hard, so just the thought of expert terrifies me right now.

Enter Sandman is incredibly easy. I was able to do it on expert before I could do tier 8 on hard.

Yeah, Enter Sandman is fun to play on drums, but it's definitely miscategorized in terms of tiers. I guess it was kind of nice having an easier song in that tier for expert drums though :P

Alot of things are miscatagorized in terms of tiers. I don't take the difficulty labeling very seriousely.

And Enter Sandman is alot of fun. I'm really going to miss it. :'(

Maps on hard is more difficult than Enter Sandman on expert.

Maps on expert is pretty easy and so is Enter Sandman. Enter Sandman is easier than Maps on expert. but on hard?
For me at least. Maps on hard was a giant wall for me because the bass drum beat is weird. I wanted to constantly use the bass pedal (like you do on expert) when I wasn't supposed to.

A friend just pasted me this rumor about the 20 free songs:

Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
Hotel California - The Eagles
Welcome To The Black Parade - My Chemical Romance
Boulevard Of Broken Dreams - Green Day
All Along the Watchtower- Jimi Hendrix
Pull Me Under - Dream Theater
Losing My Religion - REM
Muse - Stockholm Syndrome
Vertigo - U2
Where Is My Mind? - Pixies
Ziggy Stardust - David Bowie
Foo Fighters - Best Of You
Seven Nation Army - The White Stripes
Weezer - The Good Life
You Can't Always Get What You Want - The Rolling Stones
Sweet Child O' Mine - Guns N' Roses
Loser - Beck
Paranoid Android - Radiohead
The Weight - The Band
Iron Man - Black Sabbath

He said it was posted on rockband.com forums and then promptly deleted. I'm pretty sure it's bullshit because there's no way they're giving songs like THESE out for free, but holy shit megaton if real.

I thought Eagles were a GH exclusive, and they'd never choose Bohemian as a Queen song. They should, as vocalist's revenge for YYZ, but they probably won't.

Would love it to be true, probably won't be.

That's an epic list. Keep in mind, if they were to be part of the game proper, and part of DLC, they would have to be epic. Almost every song on RB2 is hugely well known. That's the point of disc songs. These were supposed to be disc songs but time ran out.

So it is a sensible and even possible list.

Yup, Eagles are GH locked: http://kotaku.com/5025010/guitar-hero-news-from-ms-presser-+-van-halen-the-eagles-metallica

List am fail.

And quite frankly, that's the sort of track list that should have been on disc, and threw some of the currently on disc songs in to the 20. A list like that, why those didn't have priority to be finished for disc...

While the Eagles might disqualify the list, let's be realistic, when planning this game it was obviously set to launch quite a few weeks later than September. But they had to beat GHWT.

RockBand.com is not ready.
20 Songs are not ready.
An entire platform is not ready.

JonathanEx said:
Sure, but when you think "what can we get done by the September release?" surely you'd choose songs like those to go on disc.

In a perfect world, sure, but who knows what goes on and what needs getting done. Maybe they got the rights for certain songs later, but still within the realm of, say, a late October release date.

Suppose so, but when that list is a greater percentage of OH YEAAAAHHH awesome than the on disc tracks, it's a bit suspect.

Also, it'd be nice for whoever "leaked" the list to have consistency with artist - track or track - artist.

You'd think they would be advertising the fuck out of those songs, too.

Yeah, totally. But I'm not expecting the twenty songs to be all, like, Honest Bob and The Factory To Dealer Incentives. I think they will be of that level of quality or maybe some left field indie stuff, like the RB2 disc is. I was impressed as I played through it in my brief honeymoon with the game (lawlz cry) that even songs that I didn't recognize by name, I realized I'd heard like a million times.

I don't expect these songs to be different, philosophically.

Costanza said:

They never advertise specific songs really. The clear point of advertisement for Rock Band 2 is no individual song, but rather 500 SONGS, as seen in box art and advertisements.

I think they'll still be good songs, just not heavy hit after heavy hit.

The point might be that it's more those are the sort of songs they should be using in adverts: like, if you saw you could play Bohemian Rhapsody, the entire of the UK would buy it.

Maps on expert is easier than it is on hard because the bass beat is in sync with your hands. On hard, its way off beat and really, really screws with people. I can barely pass it on hard, but it's cake on expert.

Yeah, that list is complete bullshit. The 20 free songs are from artists not in RB2, which already disproves:
Pull Me Under - Dream Theater
Foo Fighters - Best Of You
Sweet Child O' Mine - Guns N' Roses
Loser - Beck
...these.

The Eagles are also GH exclusive until at least GH5 and RB3. And Holiday in Cambodia is damn near confirmed for the 20 free songs as it was demonstrated in the first RB2 screenshots, and there's that 60-song leak.

I have a feeling that the 20 bonus songs will be from artists that don't have songs already on the disc, so that's the red flag for me.

I don't want that much crossover. Stop it, guys!

Has GHWT revealed the nature of their World Tour system? Because that has a lot to do with how much I want crossover. (If their WT doesn't match Rock Band's, I want as much as humanly possible, in other words.)

I think that is indeed a massive red flag, and I agree with you. It will be 20 artists that are not on the disc right naow.

Such a hilariously fake list. I'm expecting the 20 free songs to be split between bigger bands and Harmonix bands.

Didn't they initially describe it as being Rock Band's one, but better (in that it doesn't keep picking say it ain't so)?

It's probably just jumping from venue to venue like every other Guitar Hero, otherwise they would be hyping it up more. But hey, if it has stars beside the scores then I wouldn't complain.

I don't know I just spent 20 minutes on IGN and couldn't find anything about it. It's all about song creation.

I think that quote was from the initial magazine article (back in the days of Guitar Hero IV) so it could have changed since then.

What format was the leaked setlist in? Possible breakdown by location?

That's what I don't get. It's "World Tour". I've seen stuff about the cool ass venues they have (Amoeba Records??? RAD!!) but it's unclear how it'll be set up.

I guess I'm spoiled.

They have setlists, I think its like...say, Castle Crashers. There is a set progression, but you can take various routes, and the "levels" are setlists. I think I remember hearing you could go through the World Tour without playing the Tool set, for example.
