I wish you could adjust the speed manually. Normal is too slow and breakneck speed is too fast. :/
It really is one of the biggest problems with Rock Band: Not being able to adjust chart speed.

It's really frustrating how it changes when other band members play and play at different difficulty settings. The speed really should be adjustable with several speed options.

No kidding, it's really frustrating when I play with people on the same console that aren't the same level as me. Slowing down my chart really fucks me up.

That is one (very big) plus for GH:WT. Everybody can have a personal scroll speed on their fret board. I don't know why Harmonix doesn't do that.

It's really hard to explain, "I can play this song when it scrolls faster, honest."
If you guys would be playing on expert instead of easy/medium I'd be getting close to 100% instead of failing.

Those who don't play the game often don't understand how it can be so different and how it can be so frustrating.

Gotta save something for Rock Band 3!
It wouldn't surprise me if the big "innovations" for RB3 are adjustable scroll speed and stars by your score in career mode. :x

It's easier to read clusters of notes and your reaction time is faster. I can't pass a good deal of songs without hyperspeed.

Yay! Still wish I could have hyperspeed for guitar only when playing with 3 other people on the same console on rb 2 though =/

The expert scrolling speed is good for me on all the drum charts. I don't even mind it at all when my girlfriend or someone else chooses medium and it slows down. The notes look closer but if you've played the song before you should have a good sense of exactly what it is. That said, I tried using breakneck speed for a while but ultimately decided it was too fast and did a lot more harm then good. I'm great at getting my sticks moving and hitting really difficult parts but only when it scrolls slower.

I wouldn't mind being able to fine-tune the speed to something between expert and breakneck to make it feel perfect but it isn't a huge complaint. Then again, I can't see why the option would harm anyone so if it's possible for Harmonix to add individual scrolling speeds then they should definitely go ahead with it.

And it's easier to see where the notes lie in relation to the beat.
I get it. But, it's really hard to get my friends to get it; that it is easier to read/play when it scrolls faster. It seems counter-intuitive to them.

breakneck speed on Drums is straight broken. shit moves too fast and you can't move your 2 arms and leg as fast your fingers for guitar.

I played visions on drums with breakneck speed on expert just for shits and giggles and I just ended up laughing and failing 20 seconds in.

It's still hard to believe they didn't fix the chart speed for RB2.

The breakneck speed option as it is in RB2 is attempting to put a band-aid on a gaping flesh wound.

I hope they get a patch out soon. there is alot of little bug's and glitch's in RB2. along with things that should be fixed.

Great game but a little rough around the edges.

Would you say RUSHED, to maybe get the 360 version out early?

IGN RHCP review is up...

http://xboxlive.ign.com/articles/914/914450p1.html

This week's offering is a full album -- Red Hot Chili Peppers' breakthrough 1991 record Blood Sugar Sex Magik. For 1,600 MSP ($19.99), you get 17 tracks (16 if you have Rock Band 2, as "Give it Away" came on the disk) and the opportunity to play what many consider to be the band's best album. And hits like "Under the Bridge" and "Give it Away" are just the beginning. On BSSM, the Chili Peppers are all about awesome riffs, infectious grooves and Anthony Kiedis chanting non-stop about those age-old rock 'n' roll standbys, sex and drugs. Oh, and Rick Rubin as producer doesn't hurt.

There are a couple of tracks on Blood Sugar Sex Magik that we can live without, but as a whole, the album is a super-successful Rock Band experience that we highly recommend. If you like rap vocals, they're here. If you like challenging singing and easy ballads, they're here too. And the musicianship is top-notch all the way around.

What? So they give Give It Away to RB1 owners?

Holy crap! THEY DO!

Well, guys. This is BIG news!

AND in complete fucking contrast to saying RB1 will never be offered as DLC.

Absolutely. I can't believe the disappearing band issue even made it through testing. The thread over on the official forums has gotten massive with reports, it's not even close to an isolated issue and it's a massive problem they haven't even addressed yet.

Wha? Did my one man, not entirely strong protest work? Cos that wasn't what they said last Friday.

I'm not entirely sure they are offering Give It Away.

I think IGN may just be assuming. It doesn't even sound like they had the opportunity to try and download Give It Away.

Well, this is the first album offered that does it. Peace Sells, however, wasn't re-offered.

It's not a BIG deal to me, as I will get RB2, but it's completely fucking puzzling and VERY inconsistent.

And I'd buy the whole album, so I'd get it "free."

So right now we're 1 for and 1 against of re-offering RB2 songs as DLC.

Oh, I thought that most people here played drums with breakneck speed when they were probably talking about the guitar. (I forget some people don't use RB as Drum Hero)

I thought there was something wrong with me because I considered myself pretty decent with the sticks :lol

Also, can't wait for RHCP!

Odd. The Rock Band forums make no mention of it, nor do they seem to give a shit.

On a side note, someone said their Best Buy had a GHWT demo station setup. Go out and give the new guitar a shot guys.

The more I think about it, the more I think that Give It Away won't be part of the pack.

I'm sure IGN just assumed and made a goof.

It's IGN, for god's sake. It wasn't in the original announcement last Friday, if Give it Way were to be available for RB1, HMXSean would've mentioned something about it, seeing how it'd be a major deal. And RB DLC is universal; it all comes from the same basket (at least on XBL), and if it were to be available for RB1 download it'd be extremely unlikely that they wouldn't display Give it Away in the RB2 store for sale, for technical reasons. And if it were to be displayed, people could buy a song they already have.

And what would happen to the RB1 owners who purchased the entire album, and then upgraded to RB2 sometime afterwards? They would have two copies of Give it Away unless they deleted the BSSM download, which would be extraordinarily stupid.

I could buy Sprode, then buy the Harmonix pack. Song doesn't show up twice, and the system doesn't try and prevent it.

The only justification is Harmonix wanting to force Rock Band 1 owners to upgrade. And I think that's messed up. Don't say you have 6 full albums available when the majority of your customers can't get 6 full albums.

so is RB2 really coming out in europe in november? most of my RB friends are from Europe for some reason. :(

It's no fun looking at leaderboards for drums when I only see duderon next to me. (everyone else doesnt like drums or just havent gotten into RB2 yet)

There's no reason it couldn't be released quicker than it took the first. The hardware (RB1) is already out there.

Feel free to add me GT: EazyB as I play the drums almost exclusively.
Once XBL is back up and running of course.

I haven't been playing drums since I hurt my wrist a couple of weeks ago, and playing only seems to reinjure it. I'll probably start playing again in a couple of weeks.

Alright guys, I broke down and bought the 360 version to keep me going till the PS3 version is out. I'm only rolling guitar and vocals though. the game really is much better now. Love the hammer on chords too.

Fake Plastic Trees is on the soundtrack, My Iron Lung is playing in the car when Paul Rudd picks up Cher after being mugged in the valley.

Yes, I've seen the movie a lot.

It has been on cable a lot lately. Like Bravo and Universal HD. And it is a good movie. It is actually kind of scary that the movie is not too far off from teens now, when back in 95 it was an EXTREME characiture.

My RB2 Strat showed up today. It's a pretty damn good guitar, it really puts the first Strat to shame. Being used to GH guitars all these years it's still taking me some time to get used to. Even though the strum bar is better in this guitar, it takes some adjusting to the lack of clicking. Also, I have to strum it lighter than I would a GH guitar, otherwise I over-strum. But overall it feels solid, and I really like it.

The auto lag calibration worked perfectly. Such a great idea.

For those still looking, DeepDiscountDVD is still selling it the cheapest that I've seen. 58.99, free shipping, and no tax for me. http://www.deepdiscount.com/viewproduct.htm?productId=48645662 Might be better than the Circuit City deal for most.

Wal-Mart Wins Deal on Album and Game
Just as Wal-Mart solidifies its power as a music industry hitmaker with an exclusive album from the rock band AC/DC, the chain is getting its first major exclusive video game to go with it.

MTV plans to announce on Tuesday that it has made a deal with the band and its label, Columbia Records, to create an AC/DC version of the channel’s popular Rock Band video game that will be sold in the United States only at Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club and the Wal-Mart Web site (walmart.com).

The release of the video game AC/DC Live: Rock Band Track Pack will give MTV a prominent role in the partnership between the rock group and the retailer to promote AC/DC’s forthcoming album, “Black Ice.” Wal-Mart will create a special area in each of its stores to display the new album and the new game, as well as the band’s other CDs, DVDs and T-shirts and other licensed clothing. Although this is Wal-Mart’s first significant exclusive video game, the chain has emerged as a force in the music business because of the promotional muscle it has put behind recent albums from the Eagles and Journey, which were available only in its stores. Such a partnership is especially important for AC/DC, since the band does not sell its music on Apple’s iTunes store.

“If you want to be a physical band, you better make an alliance with a strong physical retailer,” said Steve Barnett, chairman of Columbia Records. “It’s a great way to sell the new album, the catalog, the game, merchandise and DVDs.” MTV and Wal-Mart are exploring the idea of setting up temporary shops to sell the game and the album in Manhattan and Los Angeles, where the retailer has no stores.

AC/DC Live: Rock Band could help MTV’s Rock Band franchise make further headway against Activision’s more popular “Guitar Hero” titles. Both products allow gamers to play along with music on instrument-shaped controllers.

Although Activision released Guitar Hero: Aerosmith in August and plans a title based on Metallica, this is the first version of Rock Band based on a specific group. Over the last few years AC/DC has sold more CDs than any band except the Beatles, which suggests that the group appeals to teenagers as well as to older fans.

“They rock hard, and that still works for our audience,” said Van Toffler, the president of the MTV Networks’ Music and Logo Group. “It comes down to getting really great marketing, because Wal-Mart is so meaningful in terms of sales if they get behind something.”

Both Columbia and the band will make money on the game, which contains the songs from the popular DVD “AC/DC Live at Donnington.” The game, which will be available for all consoles in early November, will cost less than most new games, about $40 instead of about $60. That makes it an attractive product to Wal-Mart, which believes that lower prices drive demand.

“We think people love music as much as ever, but it translates differently at retail,” said Greg Hall, Wal-Mart’s vice president for content and services, who runs its video game sales. “Music games are a key platform for us, so as the AC/DC release got closer, we talked about how to bring it to life in games.”

Press release tomorrow.
$40
I wonder if there'll be a DLC unlock code or something.
Also, this is probably what the one guy at HMX said about upcoming DLC that he was most excited for.

September: RB2 for 360
October: RB2 for the rest
November: RBACDC for everything

Well, if they go by the GH:A formula, there'll be plenty of other bands as well that go well with AC/DC. Time to speculate! That's what you guys do!

Is this not ruining the ROCK BAND PLATFORM. The more discs the worse. I just bought RB2 I don't want to buy another disc.

Why not just offer this for DLC?

$40 for only 18 songs? Really? Even if it were DLC, buying everything individually would add up to $36.

It'll likely be DLC as well, though, seeing how it's flippin' Walmart exclusive. So I'm not too worried.

Just fill the rest up with Cold Chisel and/or Jimmy Barnes. You'll all love it.

Good. That would mean the are just releasing it for the people who don't have online, or a PS2 or Wii.

If they started doing this GH approach, that would kill the whole thing they stand for, the 1 platform.

They already did that when they released albums missing tracks and refuse to allow RB2 owners to download RB1 tracks and vice versa. RB is no more of a platform than GH is now.

It doesn't say 18.

What it probably includes is an 18-song pack, Let There Be Rock plus other songs from other artists.

PURE SPECULATION, of course.

Like a second track pack, with the AC/DC pack included.

Um, yes it is. I can access and play nearly all my RB tracks, all RB DLC, and all my RB2 tracks in a single game. I cannot, however, play my GH2 disc and DLC tracks in GH3, or my GH2 + GH3 disc and DLC tracks in GHWT.

Got my Omega Pedal on friday and tried it out for the first time tonight. SOOOO much better than the POS stock pedal.

I need to mess with the trigger timing as I don't like how early it triggers.

And I can play my Death Magnetic DLC in both GH3 and GH:WT. Even though GH:WT isn't out. If RB is a platform so is GH.
