You really need to quit reading what you want to read in the thread and read everything.

It's gonna be $30 and will be available for RB1 and 2

No, it's going to be $40 for 360 and PS3. The tracks will be exportable but not available as DLC.

That being said, ACDC are probably the most accessoricentiric band on Earth so there will probably be a crapload of awesome outfits and newsboy hats.

:D

Played the game (RB1) for like 10 hours now and it's awesome. The whole in my wallet still hurts but I guess I can see it as an investment...

I just hope the PS3 version for RB2 will also be released in November...

PS: Already bught the Roderunner track pack and I love it. I need more of this stuff.

At $30 or $40 I won't be buying the AC/DC pack. I have no interest in flooding my library with 18 songs from one band when I know I'm only going to play about a third of them regularly (Thunderstruck, Shoot to Thrill, Back in Black, Dirty Deeds..., You Shook Me..., and For Those About to Rock). That should cost me $12 as DLC.

Harmonix made a big stink about this when they first put Rock Band out, that users would be given choice and wouldn't have to buy tracks they didn't want in order to get tracks they did want? Ugh. Here's hoping this also comes out as DLC (even at a later date).

Even at full price it's a ripoff. Blood Sugar Sex Magik is $20 and contains 16 tracks. AC/DC is $40 and contains 18 tracks. It's a rip-off (not true of it turns out to be $30 for all platforms, which I doubt).

I may be interested if it has other bands on it. Like the Aerosmith game did. Just 17 new songs for $40 is completely shameless, I can't believe they'd have the guts to try that.

Sidenote: isn't it against Microsoft law for a game to be under $40?

fk, the first album i wanna buy, i take my card out to add points, and now it won't download. says "try again." anyone getting the same issues?

He's saying it's UNcensored. Which is indeed a landmark occurrence if true.

What did they leave in, joa?

"I am what I am, most mother fuckers don't give a damn"

He says mother fuckers about 10 times in that song. It sounds censored still - just a radio censor and not a full out block in that you can clearly hear he's saying mother fuckers but "fuckers" it mumbled.

It makes no sense for this to be a retail product, it just can't justify it with only 18 tracks. I though GH:Aerosmith was bit light with 40-ish tracks but a single live album worth of content sets a bad precedent, IMO.

It needs to have a DLC option (even if it's full album only) and it needs to have a wider release than the US only.

Harmonix are looking sexy in that WalMart moneyhat.

Exportable yes, downloadable.. doubtful. AC/DC does not allow singles on itunes either.

This always pissed me off about AC/DC. They say the reason behind it is that they make albums and you don't get the full feel with just buying the singles. Is it my fault, AC/DC, that I think a lot of your albums as a whole suck except for the singles? If I only like one song, I should be allowed to buy it, not the whole shitty album.

/rant.

Yeah, it doesn't make sense for this to be a retail product, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was one of the many requirements from AC/DC for them to allow their music to be apart of these music games. They don't like the idea of individual singles for digital downloads (iTunes) so that pretty much rules out the chances of it being DLC unless the DLC was one gigantic pack without the option of downloading single tracks.

GH:A, also had complete motion capture and video snipets from the band themselves, and yes, almost double the songs. Oh well.. I will be skipping this, unless I can buy a couple of songs by themselves, too many other games coming out.

MTV and Wal-Mart are exploring the idea of setting up temporary shops to sell the game and the album in Manhattan and Los Angeles, where the retailer has no stores.

I notice that they don't mention San Francisco (where they also don't have stores) because there is likely no fucking way in hell that they would ever be allowed to set up even a temporary store here.

Hopefully this exclusive album crap ends up decreasing sales, but I sadly doubt that will happen. At least it isn't something I particularly want. Hey, I like AC/DC, but I almost certainly wouldn't have bought the new album anyway, now I just know that I absolutely won't be buying it.

Also, WTF, MTV has music now? When in the hell did that happen? I thought they were a reality show network for idiot teens.

They'd be crazy to charge $40 for only 18 tracks (one of which is a live version of a song already on the RB2 disc). I'm going to guess that there's more to the pack - whether it be more songs ala GH:A, or other new features.

EDIT: Not sure why I capitalized the "L" in "live". Guess I have XBL on the mind :(

The superior version at that.

You know, at first I was really disappointed by this being live tracks and not the studio versions, but then I thought about it, and the game pipes in artificial crowd noise anyways, and there's already crowd singing along with you for all the other songs. Now those sound effects will be real instead of artificial.

It might just be that I'm not listening very hard, but I certainly don't recall them doing this in the past. Taking, say, the Live at Leeds tracks they have new sing-a-long and crowd noise from the game that's totally different from what's on the album. The bits from the album were removed.

It's live tracks because, as has often been the case with these things (except some of Live at Leeds because some amazing songs like their covers of "Young Man Blues" and "Summertime Blues" were never on any other albums or their excellent extended live jams) the original masters for the albums aren't available, but live tracks are so they use those. It's a compromise that largely works very well.

Of course, when they use the album version of "I Want You To Want Me" it'll be highly, highly amusing to me (and a mediocre version of the song as just about everyone acknowledges).

Why would anyone not play a song just because they don't like it? Some of the shittiest songs ever have had some of the funnest charts ever.

NOTE: Sir Psycho Sexy is just heavily HEAVILY edited, not an instrumental.

I play songs because I find them fun and enjoy them. If I don't like the song I never, ever want to hear it in any possible context. It fundamentally ruins my ability to enjoy the song.

I don't play because of the chart, I play because I have fun with the song and enjoy playing it. This is why I can enjoy really easy charts if they have fun songs. Sadly, it doesn't work in reverse and if a song I like has a terrible or ludicrously hard chart I probably won't play it much.

But, no, a chart alone is not fun for me and I can't even imagine how that would be possible.

And yet another opportunity for Europe to take it up the shitter. Fucking awesome.

And how exactly is this statement going to help convince our girlfriends that anal sex is the most amazing thing they could ever have the opportunity to take part in? Unless that was a genuine, non-sarcastic "awesome" in which case I'll urge you to keep up the good work.

Let's just try to keep in mind the greater consequences of our actions here. No need to unnecessarily sandbag ourselves.

Because Anne Hathaway likes it?

Gah fucking stop with the being reasonably good to Europe, Harmonix, I'm already full of Crow.

My girlfriend does not want "it" anywhere near her poopchute. Which is kinda a shame, but one day, when it matters, it'll be that or bring another girl home for joyous union and voyeurism.

Which would you choose?

So I wonder how many people are going to buy it, export the tracks and then trade it in at GameStop (since I'm assuming it's a one-time use code, thus not allowing you to simply rent it and export). I'd guess about... everyone.

I have set up three songs to download, and they won't download. Neither will a free trailer which I tired to test it out. They all just sit at 1% :(

The internet still works. Xbox Live works (browsing marketplace, playing games). PS3 dowloads still work. iPhone/Wii Wi-Fi still works... WTF :(

I need to double-check, but did they even censor "Who Are You"? That's probably one of the most oddly uncensored songs. It routinely plays on radio in the US without ever censoring the "who the fuck are you?" line.

everyone is jumping back on and the servers are coming back online.. give it a few and it will work as normal, is like when a cellphone tower gets too many connections at the same time

Fair enough. Kate Darnit Rock!! do not discriminate against the wonts of their audience.

Great. I certainly didn't need to know this because now I had to go out, search for the relevant news and find out all about it. My life is filled with enough disappointment already, I certainly didn't need to add this to it.

I was going to counter that GS wouldn't take something like that in trade but then I remembered what we were talking about. They'll take it and sell it for $5 less than full price and screw so many people.

It says "Who the hell are you?" if I recall correctly.

Slept on this, and I've determined that this really pisses me off. $40 for eighteen live tracks, exclusively at Walmart...? I know that you have to bow to AC/DC's ideologies with something like this, but in this scenario, what was stopping them for using the superior studio versions instead? I know there's an export code, but still, it's way too expensive for what it is.

Again, hopefully it's DLC on the day of release, but I somehow doubt it.

The next person will likely not be able to rip the songs to their HDD again as I'm guessing the codes will be unique and a one time only thing.

Which is the smart way to do it, and kinda fucks Gamestop up the ass, in a cruel and unusual way.

My point is that acting like it's some sort of horrible punishment is only going to reinforce her negative opinions. I guess I'm actually being somewhat serious here although I intended it in a joking manner.

Also, way to fucking go Kevin Smith. Damn cuckold-fetish bastard with an undeservedly hot wife. I mean, ok, I think I did pretty well at finding a girl well out of my league that was willing to date me, but there are limits. See also: Dennis Kucinich (hot, significantly younger redhead with a sexy accent?!? Why in the fuck would you even want to be president when you already have that)

I can't help but think about this in the wrong sort of way now. In this new context it may be one of the most profound things Costanza has ever said.

what I was saying is that GS will know about this and resell it anyway.

:lol

Duly noted. I will find a better analogy, like prison rape or something.

I was, oddly enough, specifically thinking about suggesting prison rape as being the appropriate substitution. This at least is getting the concept across, but with a much more negative context wrapped around it. And that's not all that's getting wrapped around it.

I'm sure Rock Band: Pavement would sell much better.

It would once I started savagely beating people.

TheGreatDave said:
Pavement would probably give you 50 songs for $20, along with a free t-shirt.

Spiral Stairs will even come by and play it with you. It's ok. He has the time.

This is made much harder because nobody in Pavement has had a post-band slump in their careers. I just had to pick one at random and I almost always go for Spiral. Even though "Steve Perry" is my all-purpose answer to any question where I don't know the answer.

I'd say 95/5. They're clearly doing a lot of work and Wal Mart ponied up at least some of the cash.
I was saying either we'd see it as DLC, or we wouldn't. Two choices, and therefore 50/50. I know that in reality, the chances of seeing it as DLC are rather slim.
