LakeEarth said:I finally got to check Guitar Hero World Tour's list and damn. Over 15 songs that are on RB2 or RB DLC.
I'm the opposite, considering the majority of music I listen to is punk Neversoft has hit the home run for me. NoFX, Rise Against, The Living End (FINALLY!!!) and stuff like Sublime and At The Drive in and The Mars Volta are right up my alley. And stuff like The Joker, Sweet Home Alabama, Beat It and Hotel California is the type of music I've been hanging out for forever, it's gonna go off at parties. In general there's just a lot more variety. HMX needs to follow suit (and sorry, but that means less metal). The RB2 tracklist was a good start but they've gotta follow through with a more diverse range of DLC.fistfulofmetal said:Indeed. I like some of the things they're introducing but the tracklist is a few degrees off of abysmal, and that's all that really matters to me when it comes down to it.
I'm starting to think the solution is to scrub the idea of whole albums. Have a few weeks where there are 1 or 2 good songs by 3 or 4 different bands, all from different genres.M3wThr33 said:The metal was only really during August. August was probably HMX's least diverse month.
Nothing's Shocking about your observation.M3wThr33 said:We already know the rest of the albums for the year.
Texas Flood
The Color And the Shape
No Doubt Pack
That's only 3 weeks out of 13.
We'll see. I was nowhere near this pessimistic before August. I looked forward to each week with excitement. Chances are I'll probably get a few tracks off all of those albums anyway.M3wThr33 said:That's only 3 weeks out of 13.
You missed the joke. Janes Addiction.M3wThr33 said:I know. There's no surprises in there. Which means 2/3 of all the remaining weeks will be surprises.

Yeah but you know why that is....Belgand said:I find that most amusing when something costs $10 more than the PC version where you'll generally get even better graphics
bune duggy said:"zero value" means fuck all, m'kay? It's a physical disc no matter what you do to it and all of those listed factors have to be taken into account with physical media. Packaging doesn't design itself, print itself, or manufacture itself. It also doesn't do any of these things out of thin air. All of these steps cost money. Sure it was retarded to offer it like this (a code included in the AC/DC BRD would have been smarter and cheaper and probably driven more sales of said BRD) but that's what they chose to do. "They", however, could be anyone from AC/DC to HMX and I'm sure we'll never know.
:lol two different answers to the same question.

Because PC gamers look for any excuse to get out of having to pay for games and by charging less it gives a little more incentive to buy them.

The real answer is probably licensing costs. We've heard developers whinge about how much Microsoft charges. Sony probably charges more for PS3 than PS2 because of Blu-Ray. And Nintendo seemingly puts their licensing application forms on the back of cereal boxes.
You honestly think it was Microsoft? They are one of the few publishers that sell their titles for < $60USD. EA started this trend my man.Belgand said:Whether it all goes to licensing costs of not I think it was just Microsoft wanting to raise the price of games.
Obviously! Jane will be addicted to all the DLC releases.M3wThr33 said:I know. There's no surprises in there. Which means 2/3 of all the remaining weeks will be surprises.

Saying that, accounting for inflation, games are cheaper than they were when I was growing up. Nintendo was the king of price gouging. I remember buying Conkers Bad Fur Day for $120AUD. These days 90% of next-gen games are $100AUD or less. I pick up most of mine for around $80AUD.
Not all first party games. What about Viva Pinata, Viva Pinata 2 or Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts?Belgand said:In the USA Halo 3 lists for $60USD as do all of their first-party games. Australia is just historically screwed when it comes to game prices. Not to mention venomous animals.
My point stands. If Microsoft started this trend to rip us all off why aren't the following through in all countries? Why did they let me buy Gears of War for $80AUD or Viva Pinata for $50AUD? Surely they could've charged $120AUD like EA was back at the start of the generation right?Belgand said:Australia is the king of price gouging.
I played the other day with this kid, and when I went to "Make a Setlist" he started yelling in a high pitched, whiny voice "PAINKILLER! PAAAAAAINKILLLLERRRRRR!" So I highlighted Painkiller and he was like "YEAH! YEAH!" then I slowly started drifting away over other songs and he FLIPPED OUT. It was awesome.BigBlackGamer said:I wonder why I even bother playing with random people online in RB. HAY GUYS 4 LOZ LETS PLAY BATTERYZ 3 TIMES LOL LOL LOL!!!

It's a beauty ain't it. Believe it or not that is the song my disabled mate learned to play HOPOs on. It was like the holy grail to him, to be able to pass it on Expert.Affeinvasion said:China Cat Sunflower is the most fun I've had since Crossroads.
Turns and mordents are so common in music, I think I tend to just gloss over them, but I do recall having trouble playing them smoothly when I was first learning (Damn you, Shaum's Fingerpower!) They're a bit of bitch pattern, but eventually your fingers start to do it automatically when you hear that particular Ornament.TheGreatDave said:I don't really like the Boston pack that much on guitar. You don't hate the Beastie Boys and my love for them knows few boundaries.
Belgand said:What would be awesome, actually, is if we had this sort of historical record in the OP so we could easily relive our favorite moments. Though I've often thought of it and just as often realized it wouldn't work sometimes it would be nice if we had our own sub-forum as opposed to just a thread. It would certainly make that a lot easier. But it would make tangential conversations and casual bits much harder.

Belgand said:Actually I hate the Beastie Boys probably more than anything else I've ever hated that's been mentioned in this thread. Well, except that one song the other day that I mentioned was my most hated thing ever.
Most Hated
- Rap
- Anything even vaguely like rap in any sort of way: e.g. RATM, Rap-rock, dangerously rhythmic spoken-word
- Country, with an exception made for Johnny Cash
- RHCP
- Paramore
- Nu-Metal
- U2
- The Fuckin' Eagles
- Foo Fighters
- Paramore
This isn't a complete list, just the stuff I see in the game/thread most often/can think of at the moment.
Pop-punk is one of my most hated genres, but there is the occasional band that gets it close to right (not Green Day, I hate them a lot). In general, however, it combines the lyrical depth, intensity, and cultural value of pop with the general instrumental ability, production quality, and songwriting of punk. While each is a necessary part of it's proper genre (I don't want a well-produced punk album with tight, catchy hooks... I want loud, fast, raw, and insightful) it's generally the worst of both worlds.

Belgand said:Well, that's why you have me as OP on the GH thread. Although it's not the official thread, gets far less traffic, and I'm still a RB partisan who's considering whether I'll even get GH:WT (probably eventually, but likely not right away when it comes out). I'd say that Dave might be the better choice to take over there as he's around all the damn time as well and actually cares far more about it.
