Rockstar react to San Andreas leak.

The only difference is I think more people on gaming forums and what not have a modded xbox than they do have a modded PS2, at least that's what I notice.

So this really means, nothing, it is still going to sell 2 million copies next week for sure :D

I was going to post this, but damn your latent psychic abilities...

I was going to post it too...until I noticed that spong even mentioned it in their story.

anyone can mod an xbox for the price of an action replay.

modding a PS2 usually requires $50+ and at least some soldering.

so yeah, basically halo will be pirated tens of thousands of more times than GTA:SA.

Not with HDD loader. $30 and a IDE HDD.

<psst> You don't have to mod your PS2 to play downloaded games.

EDIT: Ah! Beaten by a quicker and more informative post.

I just wonder in the future if this keeps happening what kind of legislation will be passed.

bots scanning BT 24/7?
ISP black boxing all newsgroup activity?
certain programs are already in place on P2P apps

I dunno I think companies should send out a demo of the game like with pc stuff, but it seems the uber budget stuff doesnt get any, I buy it anyways, but itd be nice to get a sample of the game before plunkinf down 50 since no places take open new games anymore for refunds/

I think it will be more of an issue of tightening security on both the developer side and distribution side. Legislation won't work imo.

Xbox could have totally broke new console ground with downloadable demos, but even without we've seen a healthy number of on-disc demos and pack-ins.

Soon as broadband connected console are the norm, we'll never want for demos again.

I was under the impression that HDD Loader won't work with downloaded DVD-R copies (or imports)....you have to have an original copy of the game to move over to the hard disk. If a mod chip is already installed it will accept anything, but a virgin PS2 will only copy over proper software.

But Rockstar taught me that stealing is cool. I'm confused.
I think it's fair to say that this reaction from Rockstar is purely reverse psychology. They're trying to get people to pirate more.

I'm assuming they can do like you have to do with dvd-9 games, using a pc to install stuff to the hd then putting in a ps2.

I had to do that to get one of my import games working.

You can put your ps2 HDD into your PC and transfert ISO or you can transfert ISO via the NA ( it's slow but it works )

Pirates are thieving losers. If you can't afford to compensate these developers for their tireless work, don't play the game. Respect the contract that every consumer is obligated to abide by.

You do realize that if you have even one no-no MP3 file on your drive your logic is hereby null, right?
