Rockstead on Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League leaks: Very Disappointing"

Replaying Arkham Knight and it's just insane how hard that game goes. It's one of the best single-player games ever made. Still can't believe what WB did to Rocksteady, and that the two studio heads are gone. Another great studio bites the dust.

So at what point does Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League become such a pariah that the entire thing has to be written off as an AU. Hell, I'll make it easy on you WB. Since Kevin Conroy is dead, have the entire Rockstead Arkham trilogy, Arkham VR, and this live service shitshow just be a bad dream of the Arkham Origins Batman (Roger Craig Smith) after his night quelling the riots in Blackgate. Arkham Origins Batman, having had this nightmare of all the things that happen to Gotham down the line, resolves to try and stop the madness before things get too far. This sets up an Arkham game that culminates in a Killing Joke storyline with Batman attempting to rein in the insanity. The Killing Joke gives the framework for what can be The Joker storyline, and then just pepper in a whole bunch of the rest of the rogue's gallery as usual.

While it would pain me to have to writeoff some of the absolute best games I've ever played, it seems like a fair trade between the need to obviously jettison this SS game and us now being deprived of Kevin Conroy

I read the plot leaks. I dunno, seems like a lot of stuff happens in it but seems a bit meh. It'll be entertaining to see how this game takes off (or doesn't take off). They might need to make it free-to-play within a year if the sales are bad; that will really tick off all the people who purchased the game lol.

SS are somehow transported to Earth 2 during this fight

Earth 2 is an earth where Brainiac has already won. The SS there were all killed thanks to Waller.

There they meet Earth 2 Luthor who explains what happened and says he's been in contact with Earth 1 Luthor explaining how to fight brainiac.

Earth 2 Luthor comes back with them to Earth 1. At some point they fight green lantern (can't remember why)

KingShark takes green lanterns ring (does the whole lantern speech) and then someone (probs Deadshot) kills GL

Superman comes and mirrors the scene from the first trailer where boomerang pisses him off and blames King Shark

WW saves the SS and uses something (maybe red sun?) to try to kill superman. It fails but Superman goes to krypton to regenerate. WW dies after giving a speech to the SS

The reason Superman came out is because Waller sent a nuke to Metropolis. The SS cheer him on as he destroys it which unwittingly draws his attention to them.

SS are very sad after WW dies and don't know how they're going to kill Superman

Earth 2 Lex says they need to capture Batman so that he can make something which can kill Superman

The SS use a bootleg Batmobile to infiltrate the batcave.

In the batcave they find Tim Drake's corpse. Who was killed by Batman off screen.

They knock out Batman and miniaturise him to bring him to Luthor

At some point in the batcave they find a video Bruce made explaining how to kill all the justice league members. The SS get bored halfway through and so don't watch the part explaining how to kill Superman. Luthor makes Kryptonite bullets for the SS to use to fight superman


After Batman's usefulness has expired the SS debate over which one gets to kill him.

Harley wins and gives a speech, Batman says it's shit and then dies.

It's implied that Harley makes some kind of batsymbol in Batman's corpse (think like Inglorious Bastards but maybe a little less brutal)

They then fight Superman. Idk much about the fight but it ends with Superman dying (presumably killed by Shark)

Brainiac congratulates the SS for killing the Justice League and offers them great power

The SS use an ice cream van to get inside the skull ship

SS take out brainiac and miniaturise him. They bring brainiac back to Waller and Earth 2 Luthor. Waller congratulates them and says their prison time has been reduced.

Turns out there are 12 other Brainiac's from different universe's the squad have to go and take out though (in post game + seasonal content) Something goes wrong (I think Luthor betrays them) and the story ends.

Besides story the only major discoveries I've made are that the additional playable characters are: Joker, Mr Freeze, Deathstroke, Katana and Killer Croc.

There seem to be a few inconsistencies, but overall it seems accurate I guess. 🤷

This sounds just bad. Not even in a funny or corny or campy way, it's just plain bad. And considering Rocksteady commented on the legitimacy of the leaks, this is probably the real deal.

Dreadful. The stuff with Batman especially is just... Sheesh.

I hear you. I don't really want to be right, but this feels like the only way to salvage the entire Arkhamverse now. Decanonize everything But Arkham Origins and Arkham Origins Blackgate, it was all a bad dream of younger Bruce--perhaps something out of his first encounter with Scarecrow and getting fear gassed? Take the time to craft a new Arkhamverse narrative with a Batman trying to actively avoid what he felt was his worst nightmare and the interactions with the developing hero and villain characters push the story in a new direction.

Wow so just like Gotham Knights, a bunch of no-name chicks are writing this. This is why videogame writing has gotten so bad. They have to fit all the diversity hires in the writing department, because it's not like you can have them design the combat.

Reminder that the first two Batman games were written by a massively experienced (male) Batman writer, with the studio heads taking over for Arkham Knight. But it's 2023, so bring in the ladies, who I'm sure spent their lives immersed in Batman and DC comics and comic book culture. I mean, surely we all remember all the girls who used to hang out at the comic shops. Comic book shops were like chick magnets.

The story was dumb before the Batman part came in,now it's just plain offensive.Fuck this studio and fuck the WB executives who pushed for this.

Good on the studio founders for bailing on this dumpster fire.Good lord,I had low expectations before since it was gaas but I still held out hope the story would at least be good but this is beyond dissapointing.

What? As opposed to the time when they were disappointed that we rightly called who The Gotham Knight was? Or when we called out that Bruce would be resurrected in Gotham Knights as a bad guy?

It doesn't take a genius to figure out the plot of these games the IP is too big and too old so people know too much already.

I dont work at tech companies, but I'm 100% confident all the movies and games media lately with tons of female leads, writers, Sweet Baby this and that etc... comes from boardroomers saying stuff like:

Sales will increase a ton if we cater to women more! Just look at Apple making tech hip with women and social media sites having lots of female users! So techie shit aren't all for geeky guys! Just add some more female focus like Apple and Instagram and it'll rake in the bucks! Leaving a lot of money on the table ignoring 50% of the population! Even if we only get 10% more users from women, it'll be giant growth!

And the story from the leaks is atrocious. Its equivalent to those weird fanfictions over the internet. Someone questioned if those were true until the leaker showed screenshots of the game proving all leaked content are true.

Or they can still keep the arkham trilogy and origins and make SS an alternate universe type shit and just continue the Arkhamverse with an older Batman(different voice actor) and a young Terry Mcginnes.That way you can retain the greatness and add on it.

What I don't understand is if they wanted to go the Multiverse route with this game then why the fuck use the Arkhamverse as the setting and fuck it up completely.
Now we also have James Gunn saying that this won't be the last game in the Arkhamverse. What else is left?

Call me cynical, but given the poison that Rocksteady have drowned their own baby in. it makes me very uninterested in their Arkhamverse any longer. I honestly will have few tears to shed if they indeed do not survive Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. I want entirely different developers on the Arkhamverse going forward. Last I checked, WB Games Montreal doesn't wish to contribute more to the Arkhamverse. They did fantastic with Arkham Origins, but given how Gotham Knights turned out, maybe it's for the best they've moved on. I'm all for a new studio being given a shot at a new Batman: Arkham game.
 
They could put this game on PS+ Essential day one and I wouldn't even claim it for my catalogue. Offensively bad games like these need to die at launch.
