Great run Roy, you will be missed.

Roy got knocked the fuck out in the 9th. He has been lying down for at least a minute. Err, no he just got up. Jones was getting his ass kicked the entire fight though.

Yep, yet again he looked weak as hell, and seemed unable to throw a lot of punches, which he needed to do because he was being pressured. Smart fight by Glen Johnson, and proved what I thought that Tarver would've knocked out Roy in that first fight if he pressured Jones. Yep, his career is over, pack it up. Roy was on that floor for about 4 minutes.

Yeah, he relied 100% on his athletic skills as a fighter. Those have clearly left him, he should definitely retire.

He's gone. A stupid move to come back down from HW after gaining the extra at the age of 34.

Yup, but he did the impossible so many times in his career, why would he think he couldn't come back down again?

Musashi Wins!

FLAWLESS VICTOLY!
Let's face it, he was afraid of Tarver and this was supposed to be the "show" to jack his career back up. But Jones has always been a boxer of massive natural talents, huge ego and not that much boxing style (beyond his lightning reflexes). Reflexes gone, Jones gone. Good riddance, never liked him at all.

That is why I loved Roy, he was so unconventional it was great to watch him fight. What the hell is left to watch in boxing now? Hopkins is a great fighter, but no one wants to watch him. I can't think of a single big name that is left.

The f00 isnt gone, he's gonna adjust to it all and be right back. People are always jumping the gun when a fighter loses.

Please explain how he will do this?

Did you see his last two fights? Jones looked like an average bitch in those fights. He is way too old to change his style, I mean Roy can't even throw a fucking jab and he hasn't shown any KO power in years. I mean Roy is still on his ass right now, 20 minutes after the fight. It is over.

Roy Jones got dominated on the inside this fight... it's a space he's shown vulnerability to before, but too many boxers were afraid to take him inside. Now you see.

Not like he has in the last two fights. It is more Roy Jones having lost his athleticism then the strategy. People didn't take him inside because he would punish the fuck out of anyone who came forward. I mean Roy could not move around the ring the way he used to be able to. Lots of people said he would lose speed when he came back down again, but we were so used to seeing Roy dominating no one really listened. He should have been smart and retired after Ruiz. Now he should retire for his own safety. I mean that was no normal KO, I hope he was smart enough to have gone to the ER after the fight.

Explaining is pointless. Just watch.

Yeah Roy can win some fights still... there's alot of bums in the various federations, but it's obvious he's not getting another belt shot anytime soon... Tarver's probably pissed... Jones just screwed their rematch up bigtime.

Sportscenter said that Jones got a concussion from his head bouncing off the mat. I don't think I've ever seen anyone knocked cold like that.

Yeah, he didn't even move for a few minutes. The worst I have seen is when a heavyweight went into a coma after the fight. It was weird, because he looked ok for a little bit, but the doctors were totally freaking out so you could tell something was fucked up.

Speaking of fucked up, I heard that Bowe is back in the ring? Didn't he get serious brain damage during one of his fights? Who the fuck sanctioned this joke of a fight?

On one of the HBO 25 years of fights specials they had a physician comparing Bowe's speech pattern before the Holyfield fights with what he sounded like after and it's pretty obvious Bowe suffered brain damage from their wars. I mean, he up and decided to join the Marines (lasted 2 days I think) out of the blue and a few years ago was convicted for kidnapping his family. That's pretty abnormal. I just checked on Box-Rec and he fought last night in Oklahoma.

It sounds funny now after Roy just got knocked the fuck out by some journeyman bum, but a lot of people really started to think Roy could do anything in the boxing ring. He was just a total freak as an athlete, one of the most gifted athletes to ever box. He was NOT a boxer though, he never once showed any inclination to get in the ring and actually fight someone, he always wanted to coast with his superior physical ability.

Plenty of talent, but not a lot of heart. It showed in his last two fights when the talent left him there was nothing left.

Which is probably the reason why he's avoided Hopkins all these years. Funny, that fight probably has no value now...Hopkins would spank Roy's ass in four rounds or less based on their last few bouts.

C'mon, you guys, just 'cause he got tossed around in this fight doesn't mean he's through! Just look at Iron Mike Tyson!

...

Fuck.

You can't judge a fighter just from his losses. Most great fighters fight a few more fights then they should have and it did not negatively impact their mark on history (then again, even when Sugar Ray and Ali were getting beaten, they never got clowned like this).

Like I said, Roy will go down as one of the most "talented" fighters ever who did MORE then Hopkins by winning in so many weight classes, but he will not be in the top 5 of all time pound for pound.

And Boxing really does look dead at the moment, no DLH, no Jones, no Tyson, no Lewis. Uh, there is not a single draw left.

I'm not judging Roy Jones' career at all, which has been a fantastic one. I'm simply dealing in the here and now. Roy has gotten punked in his last two fights (hell, his last three fights if you want to get technical), and dropped on his ass twice for keeps. That's some serious decline. 48 hours ago a Jones/Hopkins fight could've been the biggest fight since Tyson vs Lewis. No way it comes close to that now. That's all I'm saying.

Chances are the changes in weight class messed Roy Jones up hardcore. But the reasons are a moot point. As of now, Roy looks very ordinary.

Let's not forget that Hopkins and Jones were seen as near equals by many people long before Jones fought Ruiz. So how do you think the same people are going to feel now that Hopkins has continued to win (including being the first man to knock out De La Hoya), while Jones has eaten canvas in back to back bouts? I think it's pretty obvious.
